drive not accessible

it is my understanding that Roxio causes a conflict with the drives. Sometimes the drives don't read the disc, sometimes they say not accessible, and sometimes they show the disc is still present after ejecting? I have a brand new Dell with XP and "Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 DE" Help please?
