Failure activating MPEG-2 module

geo_c

Question

I'm trying to create a slideshow and burn it to DVD. I get all the way through the process of adding photos and click on BURN TO DISC. I then get a message that the MPEG-2 module must be activted. I click OK, and a short time later, I get a message saying that the RoxWizardLauncher module has quit working. No other information is in the error message. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I never had EMC 9. I bought the laptop three months ago and installed EMC 10.

I've tried this several times. Rebooted, tried CDs versus DVDs, different sets of photos, etc. Nothing works. I get the message that activation is required. Then RoxModuleLauncher stops working.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi

Might be a bit of a long shot, but I discovered that the software installed by RIM (Blackberry) on my PC was version9 of some of Roxio's products. The point being you can never be too sure about what's on your PC.

Also if you are using the slideshow assistant - the gurus normally recomend using video wave.

all the best

Michael.

Thanks, Michael. Interesting.

Yes, I am using slideshow assistant, and I've had lots of problems with it. I'm about to give up and buy Nero or something. But maybe video wave is the thing to try first. Do you know amy more about what gurus are saying concerning video wave?

I never use any Assistant. I use VideoWave. From reading the forums, over the past few versions, the Assistant has always been problematic. VideoWave has not been a problem for me.

I tried a complete re-install using the instructions provided. Hacked the Registry, etc. Then I tried to launch VideoWave. I immediately get a message that the MPEG-2 module must be activated. I haven't even added any photos; VideoWave is trying to come up when I get this message. So I click OK to do the activation. Then I get an error message saying, "No Permission. bad Installation".

I give up. EMC-10 has cost me many, many hours and lots of frustration. I'm dumping it altogether and buying some other product.

I'm a geek at heart (two degrees in electrical engineering with years of corporate experience in computer architecture and systems software), so I'm comfortable with software of many kinds . Maybe I could eventually get this to work. But I didn't buy this product to spend all my time tweaking bits and trying to find ways around bugs. I simply want to burn a DVD slideshow. I've had zero success doing that with my HP laptop and EMC-10.

Say goodnight, Gracie.

If you actually have EMC10, no activation is needed.

If you had remnants of EMC 9 that you left on your PC…

Clean Install
