VideoWave Editing - To Split or Trim?

Sharks

Question

Usually when edit a video in VideoWave I use the split feature and delete the part(s) that I don't want. While searching for something else on this forum I see that some folks have been using the video trimmer to do the same thing.

It looks like both methods will yield the same result (if you want the piece in the middle or one end removed), but do they result in the same file size when you are done? In other words, will splitting a video yield a smaller file size than trimming it? Has anyone tried both methods with the same video to see if there is a difference?

As long as the final project is the same length in time after splitting/deleting or trimming, and you output it to the same format, then yes they should be the same size.

Thanks Larry. That is what I thought, but you never know with these things.

Looks like trimming is much easier unless you want to delete the part in the middle of a video.

Thanks again.

You're Welcome. It might be easier when getting rid of stuff at the beginning or ends to use trimming. I think it's also an editing stlye preference by each user. I always use the split and delete myself, but if the trim fits your editing style better, thats great. Good Luck

In EMC 7.5, you could not create a split within 10 frames of another split (or within 10 frames of the beginning or end of a video clip). Trimming was the only method to use in that case if you wanted to remove less then 10 frames. I haven't had to do remove less then 10 frames since I started using EMC 10 so I don't know if that limit still is there.
