cant run CineMagic

Eggs63Nova

Question

Hello everyone!!! First time on this site and it looks like is set up pretty good. Problem is: for Xmas I got a camcorder and "Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 Suite" I Downloaded the video to my computer just fine but when I go into Roxio CineMagic to do some editing the video playes for about 5 seconds then my computer freezes up and I have to turn off the power, then a small window comes up with a bunch of programs that I have never heard of giving me the choice to "end now" or "cancel". I checked the side of the box that the software came in and I meet all the "system minimum requirements". I am wondering if I have too much crap running in the background (how do I select what I want to run upon start up) or if my stock Video card is not up to par? My system is as follows: Stock Emachines T3065, AMDAthlon XP 3000+ 2.17 GHz, 1 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX graphics. Any help would be great.

The first thing to do is update the drivers for that video card. Try at the EMachines web site. The second is to update the DirectX for the operating system you are using. The third thing is to switch to software rendering mode in Cinemagic before you add the video. Look at the top, there should be Tools>options> put a dot near software.

The fourth thing is not to use CineMagic but to do all your editing in video Wave. Also read this from the Tips and Tricks area of EMC 10.
