emc 10 changing color from 32 bits to 8 bits

bvallier@comcast.net

Question

I have a Radeon HD 2600XT AGP graphics card with 512 mb. When I run Media 10 for photos or slideshow generation the display automatically changes from 32 bits of color to 8 bits. When I restart the program an error message says the program has to shut down.

Also when copying a slideshow to a VCD I get an error message 80004005.

A couple of questions---What operating system are you using (i.e. XP or Vista) ? I am running Vista Home Premium and for a while I was getting a ballon message that Windows had changed my screen resoultion to a basic one when I would go into Videowave. Eventually what I did to correct the problem was Right click on My Computer (I placed it on my desktop) and clicked on Properties

then on Advanced System Settings then Performance--Settings then on the Advanced (Tab) and then changed my settings to Programs rather than Background Services

Another thing I did (which I'm not sure was causing the problem) was change the settings of the desktop background to a solid color.

Right click on a blank spot on the desktop

click on Personalize

click on desktop background

and in the Picture Location box, I chose Solid Colors, then O.K. after I picked a color I wanted.

After I did all that I have never gotten that windows screen again about changing my screen resolution to a basic setting. I'm not sure if that is of any help or if my problem is what you are experiencing, but it sure helped my problem.
