CD/DVD not accessible-incorrect function

Shirke01

Question

When i try to copy a audio cd I get the message "G:\is not accessible - incorrect function" and occasionally it asks me to insert a new blank disc when there is one in there.I checked in Device Manager and there seem to be no problems.Any clues where the problem may be?

I have a home built computer with Winxp sp2.I recently installed a second DRU-830A Drive and it plays everything I put in it to my second drive. However, I can't get the computer to recognize blank disks on 830A.Both show recording, however, if I click on "Enable CD recording on this drive", it removes it from the other drive and There is no "Enable DVD recording on this drive". I kept getting the error message: "G:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function". I spoke to a Tech rep at Sony and he suggested the problem was a software incompatibility.I'm sure the sony drive is ok.

Windows will only set one drive to “Enabable CD Recording”. If you have 2, you can chase your tail till the cows come home trying to set it on both.

Likewise that switch is for XP Burning and has absloutley nothing to do with authoring software.

You have still not provided any details on how you copying…

I place a music MP3 cd in drive F and under my computer the icon changes, recognising a disk is inserted. in drive G i insert a new blank CD-R disc & Autoplay doesn't kick in if i double click on G drive I get the following message G:\ is not accessible Incorrect Function.but i ignore the message and i hit copy disc from roxio 10 F to G and click the button to continue on half way burn G disc pop out and message say there was a problem reading the disc you are trying to copy please make sure your disc is free of fingrprint scratches or dust then try again.
