Problem Burning DVD

italy_0283

Question

I've had the same problem. I originally had version 9 with my new computer (HP Pavilian a1410y) It worked great for a few months and then started saying that my ISO image was too large and blah blah stuff that I have no idea what it means and I wasn't able to find any help through the program or this website except to upgrade to Version 10. I liked the additional features so I figured what the hey. I have had Version 10 for several months and once again I got the ISO image message. I was able to figure out it had something to do with my video card and updated it. I also did a bunch of other stuff roxio support told me. I tried to update my firmware but when I went to HP it didn't have the firmware I needed so maybe I already have the lastest update. I don't know, don't really care right now as I no longer get the ISO image message at this time. My new problem is burning DVDs. Everytime I try to burn the program just sits there for a few minutes and then automatically closes OR it says " VideoWave10 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2. We are currently waiting to upgrade my Memory and my harddrive to help the program run faster, but I don't think that has anything to do with the burning problem. I also have Easy Media Creator 10 on my husband's DELL computer with Windows Vista (not sure which series of DELL) The program runs super fast and I was able to create a DVD within 10 minutes and I was also able to burn my project without any problems in under 10 minutes (on my HP it takes about 3o minutes to burn and hours to create, but that is because I don't have as much memory or harddrive space as my husband's computer) I then tried to burn the same project again (I need 5 of this particular DVD) and I ran into the same problem: VideoWave10 has stopped working and needs to close. I have searched the FAQs and asked roxianne, but get nothing for my efforts. I contacted customer support and am waiting a reply but I thought I would also check this out too. Sorry this is so long but I am so annoyed by this. I really like this program. Its great for those of us who don't really have a background knowledge on how computers work and how to create DVDs and its also create for those of us who don't have all the cool Hollywood stuff some people go all out for. It would be even greater if the program actually worked correctly. So if there are any suggestions or solutions out there please let me know. Once again sorry this is boringly long, but thanks for taking the time to read it and respond! If the customer support acutally works I'll post what I was told to do.

You don't have the same problem since you have a computer system, different video sources, etc and you should have started your own thread. Responding to different posters that have different problems in the same thread creates confusion.

Despite your long post its hard to filter any information on what you are really doing.

How long in time is the video project that you are working on? File size is not that important. A standard 4.7GB DVD will only hold 60 minutes of video at best quality. You can create a iso file that is "too large" for a DVD and then use Copy & Convert Ifor EMC 10) or DiscCopier (for EMC 9) to transcode that iso file to fit on the DVD.

Um, are you some big wig with roxio.com or something? Don't you think that was kind of rude of you? Not everyone is going to know how to do this right off. I was just trying to get some help and the Topic said can't burn project. I thought that meant if your having problems burning a project then you post in there. I didn't realize your suppose to start a new thread! And I have had the same problem with the 0% thing. Instead of lecturing me about starting my own thread and not having the same problem how about trying to help me.

I'm not stupid. I realize that file size is not that important. I know that a 4.7 GB will only hold about 60 minutes of video. That isn't my problem. My problem is not being able to burn the project. Its not the size or length of the project or the type of DVD I am trying to burn to. It is something with the actual program. That is what I want fixed! As stated above when I click on the burn button it either just sits there for a few minutes doing nothing and then automatically closes OR it sits there for a few minutes and then says "VideoWav10 has encountered a probem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

If there is anyone who can help me without trying to tell me I'm stupid in suttle little hints I'd be grateful. I've been reading other posts to see if I could find something to help me but I haven't really seen anything that is helpful. What I have noticed is that Roxio has a lot of problems without any solutions. If I can't get this problem fixed here or through roxio's actual support team then I will see if I can just find another program that will actually work!

This, I don't know what your talking about here.

What he means is that if the project you create is say, 5.2GB and you still want to fit it to disc, burn the project to an image file (ISO) and then use Video Copy and Convert to burn it to disc. It will shrink the ISO to be able to fit on the dvd at best possible quality.

hijacked? oh my heck, i didn't know i was hijacking anything. I just wanted help and that thread seemed like the thread i needed so i posted in it. if no one is going to help me find don't give me a hard time for something i didn't realize was wrong. I've never used this before I don't know how it works, or at least i didn't until i was told i "hijacked" a thread.

I just wanted some help! Forget it. Consider this discussion closed. Apparently I'm not going to find the help I need here I will just make do until I get a new program from a different company.

Italy,

You came here and through not knowing, did some awkward things. That's quite understandable, and lots of new people do it.

However when one of the experienced people here told you the right way to do things, you explode and abuse him. That's not right! :(

When another of the experienced people tried to explain further, you fly off the handle and throw the toys out of your cot, and say you're never coming back.

Chill out! Calm down and take a deep breath and count to 10. We are trying to help by explaining the few conventions in force here which help the boards run without turning into chaos.

Okay, calm now? Are you ready to talk quietly and be helped by the people on this board?

If so, welcome. Will you please tell us in short paragraphs, exactly how we can help you?

If not, please mind the door on your way out.

Regards,

Brendon
