Converting DVD to iPod

PDGBC

Question

I am trying to convert a DVD to iPod format. When i follow the default for ipod conversion in Video Copy and COnvert, I get video no problem but no sound. The sound won't even play in quicktime or itunes. However, the sound will play if I use Roxio native tools to playback. Totally stumped here. ANy suggestions on how to diagnose this? how can i make sure that the mp4 is encoding with the correct audio?

Thx

I don't have an IPod to try this with but try putting the video file into VideoWave and then output (above preview the film reel icon) to the format that the IPod will take. From there you can use Media Manager or other to put it on your IPod.

Hi,

We've 3 varieties of iPods in the family - 2 (a nano and generation 5(I think) iPod) will allow me to use the convert tool to convert to iPod files and deposit them onto the iPod.

The 3rd iPod a "classic" one won't allow me to.

Don't know if this helps, if you find a way round the prob, let us know.

Michael.

Hi guys,

thanks for the response. I am using the Video COnvert tool and it is the one that is not working properly. I will try it with Videowave and see if there is any diff.

Also, one other things that seems to be happening. The video conversion to H.264 is a bit faded. I tried the conversion using Handbrake and both the audio work and the picture is less faded

I hope i am not going down the path of refund here, but this seems too painful to make it worthwhile

any other tips or info would be great

cheers

Hi, I tried Videowave to do the convert and I get sound. Looks like when I use Video COnvert tool it creates a mp4 file that has multi-channel audio. When I use videowave, it creates a file with stereo audio? Couldn't see anywhere in video convert tool to config the audio? could this be a bug?
