I am using Roxio Easy DVD copy @ to backup my own DVD's but the program only accepts Kodak R+ and when I try R- the program fails after 30% of copyind the DVD. I have an HP 8650 with Window XP a Sony Dvd Burner. Can anyone help.

Thanks

Tim,

It seems that Easy DVD Copy 2 has Roxio Disc copier, so I guess you'll be using that to backup your DVDs.

-Can you tell us what version number it is, please? Go to the Help button > About Disc Copier, and tell us what version number is given in the box which appears?

-what is the model number of your Sony DVD burner? Please right-click on My Computer, then select Properties > Hardware > Device manager, and then click on the + alongside the DVD/CD-ROM drives icon there. It should expand and show the Drive IDs of your CD or DVD drives. What is shown for the Sony one?

-Just to be certain, when you say "my own DVDs" are these ones you've made yourself, or commercial DVDs that you own?

Thanks,

Brendon

The model number for my dvd burner is DRU-820A, on the subject of my own DVD'S the are one's that I have purchased for myself and watch the copy and save the original. I went to Roxio Easy DVD Copt 2 where you had mentioned and the only number I saw was 210B20E ENU

Tim59,

if you try and copy a bought protected disc in Disc Copier you should see this.

Now if you have stripped the protection and your having trouble burning the files, we can't talk about that here because it's illegal most places in this world. Try club.cdfreaks.com.

As far as your drive only burning "Kodak R+ and when I try R- ", your Sony 820A is a BenQ 1670 clone. Update your firmware from the Sony site Sony 820A Firmware Upgrade 1.0C here.

I have a Sony DRU-820A in one of my computers and it will burn most any kind of + or - media I throw at it including DL discs. And most any make of media also.

Frank...

What firmware version are you running? Do you remember how many firmware updates the drive has had, Frank?

I have never seen Kodak + R and - R DVD's, in my area. I would like to know the media ID (MID) from the OP"s disc's.

The firmware ver. I am running on my 820A is "1.0c" and this is the latest one that I know of. After I installed the drive for the first time I updated to this ver. and it's the only update I have made on this drive. I don't remember what the original firmware ver. was on it when I bought it. And regards to the Kodak media, I must admit that I have never bought that make media before, so cna't say it works on my drive. I stick with Verbatim, TDK, Taio Yuden pretty much.
