Burn error writing DVD+R DL

Billan

Question

I am using Creator Classic 9 to create a data disk consisting of TIFF files. When I attempt to burn the disk, at the 12% done mark I get the following error:

End of user area encountered on this track - Illegal request.[05/63/00]

I am using a Dell Dimension 5150C running Windows XP Pro. The DVD is a newly purchased LG GSA-E60L external drive. The disks are Sony DVD+R DL.

I can write successfully using Nero 8 trial software downloaded from its web site. I can also use CC9 to burn a standard DVD on this drive. I saw on a different thread about the possible problems found with using ATI display drivers, so I updated the driver for my X650.

Any idea what may be causing this or what to try next?

Try one more thing load your files in Creator Classic for a Dual Layer Burn, make sure the disc size is set correct at the bottom. Click the burn button uncheck the burner and check save disc image file. Then use Disc Copier to burn the ISO image to the DL disc in that program. Buy Verbatim DL + R Media from now on.

cd

I tried this and the write failed.

I'll get some Verbatim disks and try them. I bought Sony because I thought that Sony would make good quality disks. Live and learrn.

Is the bold text above writing the "data disk consisting of TIFF files" or other files?

This link *056300 1 2 3 4 5 End of user area encountered on this track, These errors are difficult to specify a cause for. Most of the times the problem is in the system.

Since you can write, I would suspect the Sony DL + R disc that's probably a RITEK D01 (001), or there is a problem with the software and the TIFF files! Try the first half of the TIFF files to a single layer disc in Creator Classic 9 and see what happens? Trying to recreate the 12% failure error code.

I was able to write the project to two single layer DVDs using Creator Classic 9. It is only the combination of Creator Classic 9 and the Sony DL + R disks that is causing the problem. If it is the medium, is there a better brand of DVD + R DL disks to use?

I just tried this same write with a Verbatim DVD+R DL disk and got the same result. So it is not the fault of the media. Next step is to find a conflict with some other program on my system.
