Wanted: Patch to fix HP CUE Status error and Windows Live OneCare-scanner error

HoNiB

Question

Dear John at Roxio

EMC10 is a wonderful program-suite, but....

We are several users that still have some problems with EMC10.

What is status about Roxio releasing an EMC10-patch (hopefully soon) that fixes the following two problems/errors:

1. HP CUE Status error arisen after (and not before) installing EMC10.

The error is described else where in this forum.

2. Registry cleaner error

EMC10 can not open/run after cleaning the registry with Windows Live OneCare-scanner or other popular registry cleaners. The cleaners remove unneeded or unwanted EMC10 registry keys from the registry.

I/we look forward to hear from you and your colleagues at Roxio asap.

I have disabled the HP Que Device Discovery Service listed in Services. I am running Vista Home Premium using the HP 5180 and that was the recommendation that I received from HP. The issue that I had was the printer driver was some how being removed from service.

Roxio Customer Service knows this is an issue, I have been working with them on a service issue that I created... They have stated that thier product conflicts with the HP Software and thus produces the error.

The solution that Roxio gives is to disable the hpqtray08.exe from the startup applications. As this application then calls the hpqste08.exe which is generating the HP CUE error....

I agree this is very annoying and happens on most computers that have an HP all in one unit or one that uses the digial imaging monitor applicaiton on startup. I strongly disagree with Roxio that this is a solution, this is obviously a software conflict that should be resolveable...

The HP CUE Discovery Service in the services is the utility used for HP to monitor that the devices are alive. HP informs users to disable this because if it is not the device can be removed from your system after a couple days of inactivity... Granted this is bad programmin on thier behalf, but that is easily resolvable...

The way that Roxio is conflicting with the softare is alot differently and disabling this service is not a solution... I have spent enoumerous hours lately with both HP and Roxio on this.... Additionally, when you get this error on startup, don't expect the HP Solution Center to allow you in to see the ink levels any more! As the HP CUE error continues to pop up during use... And I have to say out of all my years of experience this is the most bothersome peice about this... I personally have spent some significant money on my HP device and the Roxio software only to get agrivated each time it opens up!

So I second the notion for a solution by Roxio... HP support at the beginning levels tell you that it is the software, and more... However it is not... If you install the software and then install Roxio 10 you WILL get this error!...

NOTE: It is interesting to note that the devices that recieved the 500KB download a few months back do not seem to exhibit this... However fresh installations or ones that never got that patch seem to continue to show this error....

I am to the point that I am sick of this agrivation, and ready to rebuild my sotware and go to another software package for my burning needs... I would rather not, as I have been a Adaptec/Roxio/Sonic fan ever since CD Creator began and would like to continue to use it... However, I am not going to stand by while these errors continue and no patches are released for the app...

To who ever reads this entry, I hope it helps... The only way to resolve the HP CUE error is by disabling hpqtray08.exe from your startup execution via msconfig. However, as a reminder you will continue to get a HP CUE error if you go into the solution center and check for certain features like the ink level!

ALSO if you disable this the scan , copy , Print yada yada yada buttons on your printer no longer work , which is not a huge deal but still...annoying.

HoNib,

Did you check with HO Customer Care for a patch? Try the on-line chat.

Thanks Big Dave for your advice.

I have tried HP. No patch available.

In my opinion this is an EMC10 error. No HP CUE Status error with my HP All-In-One printer and EMC9.
