You will have to give a bit more information on what you are doing. You say you are burning from XP so how is Roxio involved?

I burning from within file explorer and it is using roxio 10. Copying and pasting within xp, I've always used it this way and it worked with version 7.5.

You still haven't said what you are using in the Roxio software.

Are you trying to burn an appendable disc? If so, nstead of using XP to burn a CD, use Creator Classic, in EMC 10, and uncheck Read Only when you go to burn. You can then add data to it later.

You might have been using 7.5's Drag 2 Disc which allows you to copy and paste files to a formatted disc in Windows Explorer.

Drag 2 Disc was not included in EMC 10 because it is provided as the default writer in Vista, so if you have uninstalled 7.5 and you are not using Vista you will need to use a different method of saving files to disc.

When burning from XP, things seem to go well. But, when I reinsert the disk after burning XP won't recognize it. Media Creator says there are sectors but the disk is closed and unreadable. I've already upgraded firmware on the drive. Any help?

I don't recommend D2D or rewriteable discs for anything where you want to archive important data, and you should never use either to store your only copy of a precious file.

However if you really want D2D despite knowing its limitations and foibles, you should be able to run the version from EMC 7.5 in XP without it getting tangled up in EMC 10.

I was using Drag 2 Disc and thought something similar was on this version. I used Creator Classic this time and things seem to be fine. Thanks. I did like Drag 2 Disc though.
