Creator 10 problem with synchronizing video & audio

kaylani

Question

I have purchased Creator 10 and spent MANY hours putting together a DVD using slideshow assistant & MyDVD along with audio. I have specified where the song should start and end at certain points in each song (I have about 7 songs in the project). In the program, the project works perfectly. When I burn it to a DVD, the songs don't begin where I have directed them to and they actually start from the beginning and continue to the end of the song. I used audio editor and indicated where to begin and end on each song.

What am I doing wrong?

Karri, there is something that the Assistant does, that even though you can open the project in VideoWave, there is still a problem with the finished project.

There is another thread on this subject, from not too long ago. The result was having to rebuild it in VideoWave. Why the Assistant causes a problem, I don't know.

That's too bad Bruce. I haven't had a problem with it. Ever since malatekid pointed it out to me a while back I have had a lot of fun with it and find it a timesaver, too. I did a search for your post but didn't find it. I would be interested to read it.

Just a note: That works for slide shows made in Slide Show Assistant (3 step) but does not work for slide shows (two step) made in MyDVD. Those have the extension "dmsd". Unfortunately most people who use a slide show Assistant use the one in MyDVD.

In the 3 step of one on the home page or under the Photo tab, you can also open the production and go to step 3 to edit. It is interesting to see how those transitions are developed. I did a slide show for my sons wedding where I used the 4 by transition. His pictures faded in and out on the left and hers on the right. I then used Video Wave (clicked to edit in Video Wave) to add pictures of them together. It worked great as a background during the wedding dinner.

Thanks for clearing that up Steve. There are so many different ways to do things in EMC. I hadn't tried to make a slideshow from within MyDVD. I misunderstood that. I've been able to make them with success from within VideoWave as well as from the SlideShow Assistant (dmss) and then open in VideoWave (then on to MyDVD). Now I will have to try it in MyDVD.

I agree, it's fun to find out how the transitions are developed. I learned a lot from playing around with different styles in SlideShow Assistant. Your his-and-hers background sounds really nice. Your son is very lucky to have such a great Dad :)

I took you advise and tried to create my project using Videowave and then MyDVD. I did not use the My DVD Express because I was not able to add text to the menu. When I burned it, it again did not shorten the songs that I edited. Even though the project looks perfect in preview, it does not burn correctly. What is going on....I'm desperate at this point and ready to give up. Please help!

In VideoWave, if you double click the audio file on the Timeline, the audio editor opens. In that editor you can click on the Trim button and a new audio-editing window opens. There you can trim either or both ends of your audio files, then adjust them to exactly the positions you want in the Timeline. Have you tried that... If so and still you have no resolution, try posting your exact steps for editing and adding your audio files (and which programs you are using to do so).

I don't know if you did anything wrong. Most of the regulars here won't use the Assistant. Use VideoWave to make your production, and then burn in MyDVD. See if it makes a difference.

You have to start over though. You can't use the Assistant production.

In VideoWave, to edit slideshows created with the Slideshow Assistant:

In Videowave, click on File > Open Production. In the Open Production dialog box, click on the little down-pointing arrow next to Files of Type. Click on Slideshows (.dmss) in the drop-down list to make that file type available, and then navigate to your .dmss (Slideshow Assistant) file. Click on it and then click Open. Now you should be able to edit and save it as a production in VideoWave (.dmsm).
