Creator Classic crashes adding file to disk

jim666

Question

On EMC 10, Creator Classic hangs up when trying to copy a file from one data disk to another. It works okay when adding files from hard drive or jump drives. Anyone have this problem? I have to use Task Manager to unfreeze program and message comes up to send the problem to Microsoft. I uninstalled program and reinstalled but problem soes not go away. I also went to an earlier Restore point when program was working okay but no luck.

Well, high fives to you, Jim! Maybe I should install the patch, but I use EMC 9 for what you were doing, and don't want to take the chance of messing up my EMC 10, for the stuff that I use if for. lol

You are welcome.

I wish Sonic (Roxio) could get its EMC 10 Suite running as perfectly as the simple CD/DVD burning software it sold to Sony for the basic bundle that came with my latest desktop. Roxio DigitalMedia works flawlessly and performs most of the functions we need on a daily basis. They did something right with that package. Oh, well, as the old adage goes, simplicity is wisdom.

And when it is "Simple" you can not believe the complaints that come in wanting to do MORE!!!

No matter which way you turn, they are always snapping at your heels…

How true you are. Just think of the great arcade games we used to enjoy years ago on our tiny screens!!

How are you trying to do this? List the steps that you took.

I open Creator classis and put source disk in E drive and destination disk in D (RW) drive. The appending drive shows and lists existing files as normal. I open source disk and select file to add. It drops to lower appending window but when I click "burn" it hangs. One thing different I notice, though, is the source disk first lists "tracks" rather than individual files and and I have to switch menu to "files." I don't remember this happening earlier. All disks previously were created with EMC 10 Creator Classic. "Grandpa" maybe you can help me.

I would copy the files to the hard drive first, then bring them into Creator Classic to burn them to another disc.

That's what I am doing but I wonder why the previous method no longer works. I reinstalled a bare-bones Roxio 7.5 and am using that Creator Classic version which works fine. I can easily open it when needing Creator Classic. I also can use the newer and simpler Data disk file adding routine on EMC 10 but just like Classic because of its full window of information. I have been a user of Adaptec/Roxio CD burning software since getting my first 1X drive in the 1990s. In fact, I could call myself Grandpa too since I started home computing with the Apple in 1980 and now three Apples, three Macintoshes, and seven PCs later am still plugging away!!
