JJ1
May I ask for some help please, I have been working on this for days to no joy. I recently developed a problem with my computer, so I backed up all my all my files using Roxio easy CD & DVD Creator 6. I then rebuilt the computer and now want to put back all my files. When I insert disc 1of my back up into my drive, Roxio gives me the option of Roxio retrieve' my files. However when I finally click on retrieve, the system tell me a problem was encounter with restore and comes out of the program altogether. I have been reading the various notes on this forum regarding this problem, and the issue could be to do with "spanning disc set, hex glitch." But I can't seem to find $0VRSPN$.INF on disc 1? Or do you think I have a different problem? Please help. JJ1

lynn98109
I had hoped the Digital Guru who is the expert on Retrieve would return, but appaently he is taking some time off. First, when you need to edit a post, edit it. When you add a reply to it, it appears the post has been answered - just a little tip for future use. Second, the best way to do a backup, if the idea is to keep your own data, is with a Sessions-based program such as Creator Classic or the built-in WinXP burning. Once the disc or discs are closed, they can be read on almost any computer - again, a tip for future use. Did you change Operating Systems between making the set and trying to install? What Opearating System are you using now? (ECD/DVDC 6 is not going to work with Vista.) Have you tried one of the recovery programs, such as cdroller (www.cdroller.com) or ISOBuster (www.isobuster.com)? Both have a "trial" Version that lets you see if anything can be recovered bofore you have to pay. If you didn't use compression, you will at least know if anything is there to recover. Lynn IF you meant me, I have been taking some forced time off thanks to this screwed up Invasion Board!!! This is the first day it will let me log in. The "hex glitch" only applies to V6.0 and then only if there are 10 or more discs. Sometimes you have to be persistent with Recovery.exe and it may help to only attempt to Recover one or 2 files at a time.

I'm sorry I am only just replying, I don't know what is wrong with forum, but today is the first time it has allowed me to log on. I have windows XP, my operating system has not changed from before. I think my problem is to do with "Hex Glitch" but I still cannot copy the back up. I have now manged to get into the $OVRSPAN$.INF File and have found the following lines and updated them: VolumeLabel=071126_2240_1 Disc=1 Disc Count=11 After this changed I have burned the new disc, but I still cannot retrieve my files. This time it try to retrieve the files It shows me the files to copy, it allows me to choose the destination to copy them to. Even say a file xxxx already exists so do you want to overwrite, so I say yes. Then it say please inset disc 1 of 071126_2240_1 disc set - retry or cancel. So it now not reading the files? I even tried the recovery programs that you suggested of CDRoller and ISOBuster, both programs allow me to view my file and tells me they are 100% retrievable once I purchase the programs. Please advise? I changed the disc count in the $OVRSPAN$.INF File but should I be changing anything on the VolumeLabel?
Jim_Hardin
There were some problems when Invasion tried to "update and improve" the software! Thus you and countless others were not able to log on or even keep their browser open for more than a moment or two… You have never told us how many discs you have in your set??? You show us "Disc Count=11" now but did it actually indicate "B" before you altered it? When you burned the new disc did you set the Volume number to 071126_2240_1 before you burned it in Creator Classic?

Hi Jim Yes there are 11 disc in my and the count did say B and so I changed it to 11. And the volume label I copied and pasted exactly as you suggested. But still to no joy?
