The Memory Could Not Be "read" ...

Question

Hi everyone

I'm having a problem starting up Media Manager 8. I am at patch level 8.05 and have lots of files to catalogue i.e. 20000+ mp3s and 5000+ photos.

After a very long time (several days) waiting for the folder watcher to catalogue them all it finally finished and I launched Media Manager 8 but almost immediately get an error dialogue box saying

The instruction as "0x6010828b" referenced memory at "0x01d7ffd8". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program

Roxann only seemed to notice the fact that I could not read anything and assumed it was a disc or something and so didn't help.

Also whilst sitting here RoxWatch has also died with an error message (I have MSVC installed)

Runtime error!

Program: ... Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\SharedCOM8\RoxWatch.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the applications support team for more information.

This message appeared a few times whilst trying to catalogue my files but I just restarted the watcher by changing the watchfiles in media manager services.

Any input would be gratefully received.

Chris

I'm getting this error message, too, when I try to start watching the folders. This discussion group is not very active, so I don't know if anyone will be around to help. Anyone?? How can this be prevented?

Thanks!!

Did you ever get a solution to your problem with Media Manager, I am getting the same error message, I requested Tech Support but no answer yet. Bude

Did you try what was suggested in post #2?
