Want Play all button AND a chapter menu button

soups

Question

I have a MyDVD project that I want to take a long movie, add chapters (which I have done) then have on my main menu both a button to play all (starting the movie directly) and one to take you to a chapter menu screen. (so I can start the movie at a different point). I couldn't find an easy how to on my search in the forum. Can you direct me to how to easily do this as MyDVD likes to frequently crash so I can't do to many experiments at a time. Thank you!

I wasnt sure weather to start a new thread or not on this same exact issue.....................so I tacked it on to this one.

Im looking to accomplish the same thing.

Grandpabruce,

I followed your previous instructions (wasnt sure what you meant by clipboard?)

but did it anyway with the right click, copy, paste, move it etc... right click choose edit chapters etc...

It did turn it into 2 buttons, I named the "Play Movie" and "Scene Selection"

but they both do the same thing for me, it takes me to the first submenu page with the first 4 scene selections. Did I not do something I was supposed to?

I was hoping one would start the movie.

any suggestions?

thank you

Sounds like you already generated chapters and chapter menu for the file that you copied in the process that you described above. Hence, those got carried to the copy.

Open the production in MyDVD. In the Preview pane (lower left side), right click the line immediately below the "Play Movie" title. Then select Delete. That should remove the chapter menu and the corresponding chapters for that title.

It should delete the chapter menu and all chapter pointers. It doesn't erase nor modify any of the source files. After doing the deletion, preview the project and see if the result is what you want. Don't save the project if you don't like the result.

Open MyDVD

Select a style with text buttons only. I forget which I used, but it doesn't really matter

Add your video file.

Edit text to read 'Play Movie'

Copy this button to the clipboard

Move it slightly up or to the side

Paste the clipboard back.

Edit the text of this second button to read 'Select Scenes'

Right click on the second button and 'Edit Chapters'

You end up with two buttons that point to the same video. One plays the movie. The other button takes you to the Chapter submenu.

After doing the above, you can then edit the background and background music if you want.

Wow, that was easy and it worked. Thank you very much! I wish it just said so in the help section as that seems like something everyone would want to do. ^_^

You're welcome, but I learned that trick from a couple of other gurus who frequent these forums, so they are the ones who deserve the praise.
