Video Card Diagnosis

basmith4918

Question

I am running a Toshiba Satellite laptop with a Trident CybeAladdin P4 video card with the most recent video driver update. Every time I try to open a saved videowave project I get the following messages:

"Video card will now be profiled" and then

"Videocard diagnosis fails, you will be unable to use this program"

Anyone have a suggestion?

It means the video chip may not be up to snuff to handle the software. Does the program close? If it doesn't, try going to Tools/Options and change for Hardware Render to Software Render, if it isn't already set to Software.

If that doesn't work, and your driver is the one from October 2003, try two things.

This helped me with an older Toshiba Laptop. Normally, you would not use the driver update from Microsoft but Toshiba is terrible in updating their laptops (primary reason for recent purchase in my signature). Oops, I digress.

See if there is a update for the driver for the card from the Windows update site. When you go to their site, chose "Custom" On the left, chose hardware. If there is an update, check the date and update as needed. Also update DirectX 9c
