I suspect you have an OEM Version of ECDC 5 which was modified to recognize a newer burner. Wehn you accidently deleted it, the modification was also deleted. OEM (Original Equipment Mfgrs) buy OEM rights to a Basic Version, and they are then responsible for support. See either the seller or Mfgr you got it from for help.

You may find something that will help you in FREQUENT ANSWERS (pinned to the top of the board), but if my guess (above) is correct, it's possible even doing the reinstall using the method given won't help.

If the your CD burner(s) are recognized by Windows, then you didn't delete any driver software, only the recognition codes from ECDC 5.

Try downloading and applying the 5.3.5 update off this site. Be sure to choose either basic or platinum depending on what you have. As Lynn said - it sounds like you have "basic" that came with your drive.

Then download the driveup updater and run it to add support for newer drives. There is only one version of driveup.

Technically, what it says is, "ECDC is not supported under XP SP2." It may or may not work for you, depending on your installation.

You say you accidentally deleted it. What do you mean by it? ECDC 5? If so, you'll obviously need to reinstall it (ECDC 5). You may need to completely uninstall it (including using the RoxiZap utility) and then reinstall it, and apply all appropriate patches. Those who have ECDC 5 working with XP SP2 had the most success when installing ECDC 5 after installing SP2.

Hope that helps!
