Dvd Music Disc Burning Problem

dainiuz

Question

I have tried to make a DVD music disc recently, I put a lot of time into it and when the time came to burn it I was very disappointed. I tried 3 times(and wasted 3 DVD's while doing so) to burn it, but it gets stuck while encoding the menus, the first time it was at 27% then 10% and last 86%. I really don’t know what the problem is. I tried to use this software for other purposes and it worked flawlessly, but i am really disappointed when things like this happen.

Does anyone know why this might be happening, if so can you please help me out. It would be greatly appreciated. By the way I do have the latest update.

Well, my hanging encoding problems have been resolved!

I deleted Nero Premium from my system and then did a complete reinstall of EMC 8. While using the DVD Music Assistant first and then DVD Music Creator the encoding is complete however the burner does not eject the finished DVD (which is part of the advanced options) although something is burned the DVD still will not play. Instead I get a "The DVD volume is invalid" error (the running total of failed DVDs is up to 6 now) I am beginning to think Roxio should inflate their prices by $35 US to cover the cost of one phone call at this time chat support is MIA (Service is Temporarily not available. An email has been sent to admin@osicodes.com to correct this situation. Please try back at a later time.) Any suggestions are as always greatly appreciated.

There are times when it just doesn't like one or more of the tracks for some odd reason.Try and see if it's hanging at the same point. If it is see if you can figure out approximately where it's hanging in the track list.If you can,try removing that track or a couple of tracks and try again. As an example if you're using 200 tracks and it hangs at 40% look around track 80 and see if maybe you have a track that's a different file format or something.Try remove it and maybe a few around it and try again.I have no sure fire answer as to why this is happening.Experiment and use RW's while you do.

Making a dvd music disc is time consuming and resource consuming. A lot is going on while it's encoding so you could try a few things such as making sure your hard drive is defragged and shutting down all unneeded programs while you are working on your project.

I admit that I have better luck with smaller projects and the few I've done, I've kept simple, but until you get this sorted out, you should invest in some RW discs.

Thanks for the quick reply. This is really weird because, the first time that I tried this, my project had around 500 songs. Then I thought I will try with fewer, so I loaded another project that I had started which had around 80-90 songs. Same thing occurred except it got stuck at 10%. There is another thing that I find weird; even though it says that it’s encoding menus, the light on my DVD burner is blinking which means that its burning something, usually(with other software) it doesn’t burn and encode at the same time. And last, when I try to cancel the computer freezes completely, to the point that even if I press the eject button on my DVD burner, it doesn’t eject the disc.

This is REALLY strange; however I will give it another try later on tonight with my internet disconnected and all useless programs shut down. I don’t think it will work but I will still give it a try.

Could your list your system specs, like Paul and I have in our signatures? Perhaps someone can see something that might help to solve your problem. It could be that your burner needs a firmware update.

Windows XP Home

Intel Pentium 4 2GHz

766Mb of RAM

(I don't know if the Video Card matters) ATI Radeon 9600 Pro(256Mb) with Direct X 9.0c

SoundMAX Digital Audio

LG GSA - 4163B DVD Burner

I hope this helps. I happen to notice that we have similar System Specs.

Well, I updated the firmware for my burner to the latest version and after restarting my computer i tried to make another Music DVD. It got past encoding the menus but it got stuck on the first song at 40%. I have no idea what to do, I don't think I’ll buy anymore Roxio Products because I’m really disappointed.

My question would be are you using DVD Assistant or Music Disc Creator? If you're using the Assistant try using Music Disc Creator to make a DVD Music Disc. For the time being try and keep your menus simple, not too many different smart objects or smart menu options. On the right pane try and keep the smart menus to a minimum and see what happens.Maybe change styles on the menu.

500 tracks has got to be close to the maximum.I've made quite a few and have gotten a bit over 400 to work just fine.I take it you're encoding to AC3 or I don't think you'd be able to get that many tracks on a disc.Like Paul said it does take awhile to make one.The encoding for 500 tracks has got to take a couple hours I would guess. It could be that there was a glitch in the install and there's a minor problem in the menu objects so keep it simple for now till you can see if you can successfully make one then get fancier as you go along. There also could be a problem with one or more of the tracks info and when its trying to build the different menus it's running into a problem.Let us know.

Hey I am in the exact same boat with the exact same symptoms and problems. Sometimes it gets to 40% complete other times 10%. I am using Music Disc Creator

Error signature is described as follows:

AppName: musicdisccreator.exe

AppVer: 8.0.5.48

ModName: dvdmusicbuilder.dll

ModVer: 8.0.5.43

Offset: 00010121

I have updated my drive's firmware/drivers.

The DMA is enabled.

Media used is clean and unused (Two different brands including Roxio.)

I have reinstalled the burners' drivers.

I am currently using a HP Pavilion

AMD Athlon XP 3100 2.20 GHz,

1.00 GB of RAM

160GB Hard Drive with approx 87GB free

MS Windows XP

Home Edition

Version 2002

Service Pack 2

ATAPI DVDRW DL burner

Hopefully similar problems will have similar solutions.
