Arnold231
Hallo, I need a driver to read a old cd-rw which is udf formated with my today winxp computer. I think, the cd-rw has been formated long time ago with a program like cdcreator or easy-cd from adaptec I think. First I tried to install the driver, which is on the cd themself to read the udf-format, but this did fail. I've alread removed that dirver. Then I've found a driver on this side called updateudfreader_7.exe, but this will not work - showing "The Roxio UdfReader has not been detected". Can you help me to find a working driver to read my old udf-formated cd with my winxp computer? Thanks a lot. (please be patient if my english is not correct becaue I'm from germany) Arnold
lynn98109
WinXP has a powerful .udf reader built in, so if it can't read your DirectCD formatted disc, that is a bad sign. Try a recovery program such as cdroller (www.cdroller.com) or ISOBuster (www.isobuster.com). Both have impressive testimonials on their websites and in the Roxio boards. Both now have "trial" versions, which let you see if anything can be recovered before you have to pay - you odds are better with CD-R than CD-RW. Let us know how it goes. Lynn Hi, Isobuster did work with my UDF formatted Disk. Don't know why WinXP isn't able to handle the cd itself. Maybe it goes together with the changes I made, to stop the mad recogition of the cd's and dvd' and external harddisks. Arnold
Brendon
Hi Arnold, You could try the link mentioned in post #2 in this topic (click) That's a link to the reader version 5.1.1.213. If that doesn't work for you, try an internet search on "UDF reader downloads" and you should find a large number of different versions you could try. Regards, Brendon Hi Brendon, hi all, I'd just like to say, that the udfreader5.1.1.213 did not work correctly :-( with my winxp computer with a multinorm cd/dvd-writer. It shows just only the files in the upper folders but no files oder folder in deeper spaces. But that doesn't matter do me any more, because isobuster pro satisfy my needs. Best reagard. Brendon
Thanks for the feedback Arnold. That's one of the reasons against using packet-writing software - there are a myriad versions of it to try and match. Regards, Brendon
Up2Vista
have tried both suggestions for recovery programs on CDroller and isobuster. Have a CD created with Roxio 5.3 in Windows XP. With new Vista system and Roxio 9 (which is supposed to have a Reader 7 in the background) I can not run it. I separatedly downloaded 'updateudfreader_7.exe but would not be accepted. Will try now the multi-UDF - Reader download. Se what happens. Any other suggestions will be most welcome. ROXIO techs: Please .. jump in!!
