Creator Classic Freezes

Back again, seem to be having this issue again.

 

I spend time adding files to be burned then at a certain point creator classic freezes. I have to ctrl+alt+del then end creator8,exe, reboot. Try again. same thing happens. I'm not over the dvd space. none of the files are anything overly large. Just files I need to backup before I format for a PC mobo cpu upgrade. PLEASE help I wanted to do the upgrade today but looks like I'm not going to be able to.

Does this happen only with the same files? There are some things you can try such as making sure that only 1 creator8.exe exists at one time (task manager). Maybe a repair install in case there is a file corrupted. Try another dvd brand to see if it doesn't like the media. Make sure you have the latest firmware for your burner.

Shut down all unused programs in the background.

If nothing else, I guess you can burn to an ISO then use Disc Copier to burn the resulting ISO to your disc.

Does this happen only with the same files? There are some things you can try such as making sure that only 1 creator8.exe exists at one time (task manager). Actually, I would say yes it happens with the same files because those are the files I need to burn.. everything on G drive, I'm not adding it all at once either, directory by directory (misc. programs, audio , image & text files). Only one instance of creator8 is running at the time., no other programs are loaded... well. ZA (zone alarm & AVG antivirus are..) But even when I shut those down it still happens. I can't use creator classic because at a certain point (about 70% of dvd space, the freeze happens) It happens when I use my mouse to drag the files into the burned cd window.

 

I did reinstall prior to this instance, because it happend before. Things went well for a while, (2 successfull burned dvd's) Then the freeze happend again. I'd hate to think I'd have to do that every 2 burned dvd's... (it actually does the same thing with reg. cd-r discs)

 

As far as brands, I used 2 different brands, I can't afford to keep buying media cause EMC doesn't "like" it...

I use Maxwell & Staples dvd's.. (i've never had issues with staples prior to EMC 8... )(if thats the reason)(which I doubt)

 

I don't want to make an ISO image I want to make a reg. old data DVD. I'd like to be able to get at this files without having hassles...

 

Here's the odd part, If I just go ahead & drag them into a disc (D2D) everything is fine! But, I'd kinda like some control... ya know?

 

Also, the firmware is current for my burner.

Just for grins,you're not trying to use a formatted disc to make this copy are you?Just checking.Other than that there may be a problem with one of the files.You said it's the same files all the time.Does it seem to stop at about the same point every time?From your last post I'm kinda confused if this is while your adding files to the project or actually burning the disc.If it's while your adding files it really points at a problem with a file.

It's the same group of files I keep trying to make a data dvd. backup- G drive 20. gig (not all at one of course) However, When I add any files from anywhere (I just checked) C, D, E, F or G drives when the data gets to 1.13 gig ( 4.7 gb blank dvd) it freezes. Its not the files. Its the program not liking me!
