Audio Missing Vob --> Dvd

wooten

Question

I've purchased MyDVD 10 Premier which is a great little package.

BUT I have trouble getting the audio on home movies taken on a Sony DCR-DVD201E DVD Camcorder out to a standard DVD-Video disk for use in Set-Top player (with MyDVD 10).

If I Import/Convert the VOBs (direct off the mini-disks) using the "Compile DVDs and Movies" the audio transfers just fine!

When I add the VOB movies in MyDVD 10 I get to add the beautiful menus of course BUT there will only be audio on the menu segment... ? i.e. NO AUDIO on the VOB segments - just absolute silence!

BUT if I preview in MyDVD 10 the audio is definitely there on the VOB segments!

BUT BUT if I Import/Convert to MPEG4 files first and then add the MPEG4s as movies in MyDVD 10 then everything is fine with the audio. (This whole process just takes too long...)

Am I doing something wrong. Is there a better workaround? Help?

Wooten.

Wooten: I tried this as closely as I can. I do not have a camcorder that uses mini-discs.

I did open MyDVD and select a VOB from a burned DVD Movie from Add Title.

Burned another DVD Movie and all is good…

But when it comes to Sony... well let me just say that they have never let Industry Standards get in the way of thier products!

I appreciate your comment Jim.

I'm a little confused as to why it would work with one part of the program and not with another (i.e. not with MyDVD)? Are there any settings to change in the MyDVD program other than the obvious? Also, audio on the Sony is reported as AC3 format... is that relevant?

Cheers

wooten,

I have copied the Mini DVD -R Disc that a Sony DCR-DVD505 made to the hard drive. Opened Videowave and selected the vobs no problem, also renamed vobs to (.mpeg) and worked fine. The audio from the camera is 5.1 like ggrussell said, I agree with Gary a AC3 filter shouldn't be needed.

Have to tried the way I explained? I don't understand why your importing/converting?
