Mydvd 8 Changes File Modified Dates

dave.user

Question

Is there any way of stopping the MyDVD 8 changing file modified dates ('Date Modified') ?

Selecting 'Stop Watching Folders', either from the systray icon or in Media Manager, does stop background watching of folders and changes to file modified dates. The same is true if RoxWatch and RoxWatchTray are disabled in the Msconfig startup list.

However, even after selecting 'Stop Watching Folders' and disabling RoxWatch and RoxWatchTray in Msconfig startup list, creating a slideshow in MyDVD 8 ALWAYS changes the file modified dates for all of the 'added' photos.

Is there a fix to stop the file modified dates being changed ?

I don't see that happening??? I used MyDVD, created and burned a slideshow and all dates of the source files remained intact.

Can you supply more details?

The problem occurs when creating slideshows in MyDVD 8, but the simplest way to reproduce the problem is as follows:

- Start Easy Media Creator

- Click on the Photo tab in the project list

- Click on Slideshow (Slideshow Assistant starts - see note 1 below)

- Click on Add Photos

- Select one or more photos

- Click Add Photos (see note 2 below)

- Click Next

- Click Next

- Click Save this project

- Enter a filename (xxx.dmss)

- Click Save

- Click Finish

Note 1: Starting Slideshow Assistant also starts RoxMediaDB.exe which I think is the process causing the problem.

Note 2: The file modified dates of the 'added' photo files are changed as soon as the Add Photos button is clicked.

Yes, the first step is to start the home program.

OK, I followed your instructions to the letter.

You are correct that RoxMediaDB.exe launches when Slideshow Assistant starts.

However my picture dates, both Created and Modified were never changed.

I rebooted and checked them again after logging on to make sure it had refreshed. No change.

Best thing I can suggest is to skip the SlideShow Assistant and build your slide show in VideoWave. You can burn from there or save the project and open it in MyDVD to burn.

Give that a try and see if it doesn't work better for you.

I am curious if anyone else is seeing this behavior???
