Overlays And Text

Guest RCD74

Question

Hi everyone - I am having trouble placing text over top of an overlay in VW. I have a colored panel, then an overlay that takes up most of the panel (I put it there to allow it to fit in the TV safe zone) and then a text box in text 1 of the internal track. It shows up normal in the preview within the internal track, however, when I press "done" and go back to the production to preview, the text IS NOT there. Any insight?? I had the same problem in V9 but I came across a strange workaround which was to place 2 identical text boxes in the internal track and then it worked. In v10, that is not working for me!! Thanks!

Aside: Rachel, your in-box is full for the PM's. You can't receive anymore PM's unless you empty it, or delete a lot of the messages in there now.

Thanks - I am so popular!! <_< Meanwhile, I have found a huge problem in v10. It is impossible to set a transition duration to all transitions without EMC changing your transitions. Have you found this?? I am on with roxio support right now.

It appears to be by design, as described in the online Help - that is, both duration AND selected transition get applied to the entire production.

Hi Most Popular Rachel! :P I remember it was mentioned as a bug during beta testing and I don't think it was fixed before the final version was released. And, I'm not sure if anything changed in 10.1------can you confirm exactly what version you have just so we know? I only have v10 on the system I'm in front of now so I can't tell you if it works any different in 10.1 for sure.

It looks as though I have 10. In Support, I went to "About" and it says EMC 10. I can't believe they would have given me 10 when I just purchased less than a week ago!!

It wasn't this way in v9. Is there a way then to change the transition duration to all slides at once WITHOUT changing the transitions that were already inserted? If it IS by design - it stinks!! :angry2:

Rachel, I'm not sure that 10.1 was ever released to retail and might only have been made available to downloaded versions. However, you can update your version via the update page. And, I usually suggest creating a restore point before you do the update just in case.

Well, after doing a Search in the V10 forums, this does seem to be a known bug and there were no suggestions other than to "live with it", that were suggested. Why in the world would Roxio have this feature in v9 and then drop it in v10. Isn't this supposed to be an "upgrade"?? I am very frustrated!!

I find Vista seems to create restore points more often then XP but it's usually a good idea to set one yourself.

To create a restore point manually,

1. Click Start

2. Right click on My Computer

3. Select Properties

4. From the tasks pane on the left, click System Protection

5. Select a disk (place check mark in box if it is not already checked) from the list, usually C:, and click on the Create button.

6. Type a name to describe this restore point (ex. "Before driver update")

7. Click Create button
