jbvc
I converted some FLV files to MPG (DVD NTSC) on Media-Convert.com. Then burned a DVD using Roxio Media Creator 8. The DVD plays fine on computers, even its menu, but will not play on the Toshiba DVD player connected to my TV - all I get is a "Disk Error" message. I've tried this with Memorex and HP DVD's. Any Suggestions?
jbvc
I've burned a couple of thousand Verbatim discs, and haven't had any problems with the discs. They're a good mid-range disc., mostly made by CMC Magnetics and perform quite well. Regards, Brendon If a disk plays on my computer, should it also play on a standalone DVD player? I assume the disk needs menu - is that right? And are some file formats better than others for standalone DVD players?? Thanks for your help. cdanteek
If a disk plays on my computer, should it also play on a standalone DVD player? That is repeated here often, but is wrong! I assume the disk needs menu - is that right? No, IMO they cause a lot of disc error problems. And are some file formats better than others for standalone DVD players?? Thanks for your help. That depends on the player. Some play DivX, VCD, SVCD, and some even data on a disc! If you want to be sure author a compliant DVD Video disc, that is what they were designed to play. cd

grandpabruce
No, CMC Magnetics, makers of most of the Verbatim discs. What I said! Hmmm, I have burned a lot of Verbs, but I don't recall ever seeing any CMC Mags. Mine are mostly MCC 04's.

Depends on your supplier, probably. To quote the expert, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (a.k.a. Mitsubishi Kagaku Media) == Verbatim. Mitsubishi/Verbatim also outsources production to CMC Magnetics Corporation and Prodisc Technology Ltd. in Taiwan, Moser Baer India Ltd. in India. CMC Magnetics Corporation also produces Mitsubishi discs in Ireland and Mexico. Actually, the best two burns I've ever measured [disc quality 97 and 98] were on CMC MAG E01 discs. Memorex is bottom feeder media. Some HP media isn't any better.

Oh, OK, I get it - you want to know which component of the Media Creator Suite was used. I used MyDVD 8.
