ballpet
I knew there was a use for that old W98SE HD. Stuck it in a box, disabled Atgard (but not NAV) and got the flipping file. One shouldn't have to resort to such methods though. Thanks...
ogdens
The file you need is called updatephotosuite 7.5_to_454.exe and it can, with lots of luck and determination, be downloaded from the roxio site. The main problem seems to be that the Roxio site does not like electronic firewalls. Try shutting down the firewall you are using--prob the one that comes with XP and see it that makes any difference. Once you get the file downloaded click on it and follow the instructions, some of which are to put your program disk and then the content disk in your CD reader. Then cross your fingers and hope of the best. User marcelrosen is trying to download the update for the stand alone PhotoSuite 7 Platinum not the Photosuite program contained in EMC 7.5. The same problem of shutting down any firewalls still applies.

marcelrosen
Are you guys referring to this download file? Update PhotoSuite 7 Platinum May 26, 2004 Update PhotoSuite 7 Platinum to 7.0.430.0 (English Only). For additional information on fixes included click here. Important Note: This updater is intended only for the stand alone version of Roxio PhotoSuite 7 Platinum. If your version of PhotoSuite 7 was included with Easy Media Creator 7 then please click here for the correct updater. updatephotosuite_to_454 | 35.7 MB | download If yes, I had it downloaded. After the download (and reboot of the PC), when I opened the software, I'm getting a massage from Roxio Updater indicating that a new update is available. I've tried to copy the update information so you can review it, but it wouldn't copy and paste, so I had typed the content of the update massage: PhotoSuite 7 Retail Down load size 35.78 MB, less then 3 min. DVDBuilder 7.0.454.0 - Fixed audio/video synchronization issues. - Improved............................................. - ........................................................... Label Crator 7.0.1.41 - Fixed reboot......................................... - Print.................................................... Storyboard 7.0.454.0 - Fixed audio/video synchronization issues. - Implement........................................... If I choose to download this file, I will find myself in the LOOP I talking about all this time. Something interesting is that my current version is 7.0.435.0 and the file in the massage abouve saying: Update PhotoSuite 7 Platinum to 7.0.430.0 (English Only). I'm getting confused here. Were is the file that update it to 7.0.454.0?
dea101
Actually, one way or another there is a way to get these updates. However, Without figuring out what to turn off, what to turn on or is anything running on my computer that would effect the down load ? it is just to simple to run msconfig, and go to selective startup, remove all of the boxes that have check marks in them and then go back and go to Roxio's site and do your down loading. This way you should be assured that there will be no programs running that will interfere with your down load. When done thought, just be sure and go back into msconfig and re-set to normal setup. This particular problem has cropped up on these forums many times and the solutions finally get resolved one way or another after a considerable amount of replies and posts. Frank.... The above step did not work for me, is there another solution to solve this problem cause I'm still caught in the loop.

feverishguy
Hello All,SOLUTION to PROBLEM I am having some troubles with burning to ISO file in DVD Builder (EMC 7.5) for DL DVD, and have been reading some related posts. However, I decided to update to latest 7.5 version and re-attempt prior to asking questions. In trying to download update file, I was also frustrated by being caught in the loop mentioned in previous posts. Grandpa Bruce pointed the way to a solution, but it involved turning off firewall software, like Zone Alarm (I run ZA Pro). Well, with a bit of effort, I have a solution that does not require disabling the firewall (This is for ZA Pro, but the principle is generic): 1. Open up ZA, and navigate to Privacy/Site List. 2. Add site "softwareupdates.roxio.com" (when you mouse over the "Download Patch" icon, you will see a re-direction to this site) and configure; I allow Mobile Code, Session and Persistent Cookies, block 3rd Party Cookies, disallow Web Bugs, and allow Private Header information. This last one is critical, it is the Go/No-Go item - without it, the loop will continue. I hope the above is helpful! Cheers, Smiffy This did it for me!!! grandpabruce
Yes & also Customer Service was of no help at all? Why don't you list what you have done. You obviously have something running that is preventing you from getting to the acutal download page. Zone Alarm, or Norton Securtity are two that will block it. cdanteek
I had someone send it to me. LOLLOL! There are always workarounds. Glad you got it.. Great gobs of insperation ! Don't fight it, just let someone else send it to you. How unique. 1. Open up ZA, and navigate to Privacy/Site List.2. Question, why when I go to Creative Labs for a sound Card update, ATI and Nvidia for a Video Card update, and Ms for ther updates! I don't have to jump through these loops ( shuting off popupblocker, antivirus, internet security) to update! Houston what is the problem here? Is it Roxio DRM or I don't want you to bother me? cdanteek
marcelrosen
I turn off pop-up blocker also Norton Anti-Virus and tried to re-download the update but still couldn't. kenwardm
If anyone arrives here still seeking solutions to this problem, here is another option. Use a different browser. FireFox put me into the endless loop. Internet Explorer got the file. Some people will find this easier than messing around disabling pop-up blockers. REDWAGON
Well Bruce, If the OP did what I suggested, and if that is true, then there is no way that any anti-virus progarm would be interferring with a down load. When msconfig is run and all of the check marks under "Selective Startup" are removed and the computer re-booted, then none of those programs will ever get started when they re-boot their computer. I'm not so sure that there is anything running that would interfere with the down load in that case, but I would suggest that some exact steps may not be done correctly as far as the down loading process from Roxio. Guest mlpasley
If it's a pop up blocker that's interfering with the download, you're going to have to search to find it. I know that if you have Yahoo on your browser, it has not one, but two separate places where the pop up blocker is listed and you've got to turn them both off. When I had problems with a download (not Roxio), it took me half a day to find all the pop up blockers on my computer.

Is it Roxio DRM or I don't want you to bother me? cdanteek Good grief, who knows what's up? I've never had to dance this wildly to get a download (other than clicking to allow a pop-up) either. Maybe it's just another example of why a few people have a program that doesn't work and they scream and rant that it's junk, and the rest say it's the greatest thing ever. Everyone has some peculiar combination of setup/programs/configurations and so on that causes problems/needs workarounds and whatnot. In the end...as long as there's this cool forum where we can all come together and figure something out to make everyone happy and get their programs humming...that's what counts. ballpet
I turn off pop-up blocker also Norton Anti-Virus and tried to re-download the update but still couldn't. I've PhotoSuite 7 Platinum. My current version is 7.0.435.0 and trying to get it updated to 7.0.454.0. Can you help? Thanks. I assume that your computer is looking for a file called "updatephotsuite 7.5_to_454.exe"? As noted I ended up using a plain-jane Win98SE HD with the firewall turned off (NAV was still up) to download the file. If you are using XP try shutting down whatever electronic firewall you are using as this may be the key although when I tried it on my XP box and turned of ZA it didn't seem to make any difference. It's a large file, 36.6KB, to big to stick in my little corner of my ISPs cyberspace. Find a friend who is still running 98 and see if s/he can download the file for you and burn it to a CD. REDWAGON
I certainly agree with that ml. So if you have Yahoo as your browser, then I guess it would be a good idea to configure the browser so you eliminate the pop ups. I always assumed that it was the web site that you logged onto that showed a pop up, and I certainly would think that Roxio has any such pop ups. I know in my Norton Internet Security 2005, I can go and tell it to stop all pop ups. maybe all security programs don't have that option. Frank.... scmsmith
LOL! Did you stop all of that background stuff when you tried to get the download? If you are caught in the loop, and disable pop up blockers, your ZA, and whatever other paranoia stuff is running, you will get to the actual download. Once you get it, put all of that stuff up and running again. I had to do it, but it didn't take very long to download the update. nobody
I have the retail version of 7.5.0.47 and have downloaded the upgrade to 7.5.2.49 but when I try to install it tells me I either do not have the program on my PC or am using the wrong patch. ballpet
You are not alone in this. I ran into it with both 7.5 and 6 in attemping to download the current updates. When I try the download function within 7.5 (photoSuite) I get a message that it can't find updatephotosuite_to_454.exe and when I try getting the file from the web I get this %$^& loop, click on download and loop back to the selection screen. Since I'm not jazzed with photoSuite7 as a photo program I may just blow it away, eat the cost and use others. I've tried the web download on various boxes, some with W2K and others with XPPro, with and without NAV and ZoneAlarm active. I've also tried NetScape instead of IE. I've sent e-mails to Roxio with no response. Frustrated? Yes. Disapointed with Roxio and their products? Yes. Looking for another? Yes. Anyone out there have a copy of updatephotosuite_to_454.exe or know where I can get it other than Roxio?

I have never had a need for that software so don't have it on my computer. I understand that it is a difficult program to get it to listen to what you want to tell it, so I never purchased it.
