Return To Menu After Movie

What happened to the option to continue to the next item on a menu, rather than return to the menu after each item on the menu? In 7.5 that was a burn option, but now is not to be found, at least that I can find.

Thanks for all the input Ladies and Gentlemen. Maybe I am sorry to have brought this up. My use for this was that when I take a trip, I like to make a DVD for all the members of the party. In this case I just returned from Mexico and toured several cities. I made 16 copies. Some people like to watch the whole thing at once and others only want certain cities at a time. So, it was a nice option and I still find it hard to believe they took it away when it seems it would be so easy to just leave it. It takes effort to remove something, but seems like it would take less effort to just leave it, so maybe there is more than meets the eye.

You can still keep 7.5 on your system if you want with 8 installed as well.

But it can be done using the steps listed in an earlier post.

 

It is just that the burn option is not there.

 

I agree I found the old weay easier but a slight adjustment and I can now select to play all or a "city" at a time

Why would you put more than one title on the main menu if all you are going to do is watch them one after the other? It would be just as easy (or easier) to just put both together as one movie and have only one button to play them.

 

But to answer you question - Prehaps someone has a training disc. Button 1 is lesson 1. Button 2 is lesson 2, etc. How about 2 one hour episodes of a TV show? Shall I go on?

It asked if you would like to remove it. You can have both installed. You just can't have both copies of Drag to Disc installed at the same time.

 

As stated in the other thread, the feature you want is still part of EMC 8 Deluxe Suite.

But the point is that it was in 7 and 7.5 and not now in 8. I did not go delux cos I do not need the dazzle device.

Looking at the specs I thought 8 would have just been a bump up from 7.5.

 

For me buying 8 ws a mistake.

 

Do not get me wrong, I have nver complained about Roxio before.

 

I have purchased ver 5, 6, 7, 7.5 and now 8 this is the first time more is less for me.

 

I make home video of the kids in chapters or titles, now I cannot have 4 titles in a menu that play one after another. i think that is a mistake and i for one am not a happy Roxio user

I have 7.5 and 8 installed and I think what you're referring to is that if you had Drag to Disk installed in 7.5 and wanted it installed in 8, it was telling you it had to uninstall the older version first before installing the newer version as only 1 instace of packet writing software will operate properly on a system.

If you've already removed 7.5, you'll need to reinstall it. However, if you want some of 8 installed as well, I would suggest you thoroughly uninstall both, install 7.5 then 8.

You're confusing Chapters and Titles. They are not the same thing. So I'll ask you again - WHY have separate buttons on the main menu?

 

In your example, you have 4 different clips that you want to watch as ONE MOVIE. So why are you placing them on the main menu as separate TITLES? Create a single button to 'Play All' and then have a second button to 'Select Scenes'. That's how it's done on commercial DVDs.

Ok I have the Main menu

 

I add 4 diffent mpegs to that main menu.

 

In 7.5 i could select either return to menu or play each title when i go to burn. In 8 it appears to not be there

 

from the main menu they are chapters correct.

 

Where is the option to play them without going back to menu?

Roxio cannot be used to make a multi chapter dvd that plays chapters one after another in Version 8

You are assuming that Sonic/Roxio used the old code from V7. I don't think they did.

 

You can STILL do exactly what you want by following my suggestion. Have a 'Play' button that plays the entire Trip to Mexico. Then have a second button that you 'edit chapters' and place a chapter mark at the beginning for each city visited. When the viewer selects the second button, they will get a submenu where they can then select any of the cities.

 

This is exactly how they do it on a commercial DVD like Harry Potter. Press PLAY to watch the entire movie Or press SCENES to skip to your favorite spot.

I concur. I now see the light. My old way was working for me but not as professional as your way.

 

 

I made a DVD using your instructions and it works fine and I like the play movie button or select chapter.

I know exactly what you want and what you are doing. It can't be done in any version of EMC8 except the Deluxe version. Why Sonic/Roxio decided to do that, I don't know. I understand WHAT you want. I don't understand WHY you want it. Think about what you are saying. You want to watch the birthday, thanksgiving, birthday 2 and Xmas all in sequence. Then what purpose do the buttons serve if you're never going to press them?

 

If at some time you want to watch one of them separately, you can still do that with the 'Play All' and 'Scenes' buttons on the Main Menu. Just choose the 'scenes' and then the chapter you want to watch. This way makes your DVD look much more professional. This is something that Version 7 CAN NOT do without adding the same file twice.

Glad you got it working. Sometimes it can be difficult to get a point across on the forum. Once I learned that little copy/paste trick, it even seems to make the whole process of creating the menu faster for me. Working on an old VHS tape transfer for a cousin today.

My point is though, they are seperate clips I do not want a long 1 hr movie of everything. It makes it hard to find the birthday clip in amongst the movie. i want to seperate the clips but allow the dvd to play all the way through each chapter. if someone sees the dvd and does not like chapter 2 they can skip it but as it stands in 8 when chapter 1 finishes it goes back to the menu until u elect another chapter.

 

I do not see a "Play All" on th menu of the dvd that is playing on my tv from Easy CD 8. I need to play around with burning in 8 maybe,, before I shoot myself more in the foot

 

Also any movies copied from tv and burnt as mpegs cannot be played if the mpeg is more than 2 hrs. I have to cut the mpeg into 2 clips and burn as "play all clips" and not as return to menu after chapter 1

You are correct. That is not available in the standard version of EMC8 and MyDVD8.
