Newbie Computer Idiot Needs Help

conma@comcast.net

Question

Is there any way to successfully install and use EMC 8 (PC, windows XP) when iTunes is already installed on the computer? iTunes burns audio and data discs, but I want to be able to do slide shows of pictures with music, and iTunes doesn't do that, and iTunes won't recognize that there is a blank disc in the drive when I try to use EMC.

(Is this the proper place for this kind of question?)

Any help would be appreciated; can't seem to get any help from Apple, and I really don't know that much about computers.........

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can have EMC 8 and the latest version of ITunes on the computer at the same time. Earlier versions have been known to cause a problem. If you already have the latest version, you may have to remove it, do a repair on EMC 8 and then reinstall ITunes.

Thanks so much. I can certainly get the latest iTunes, and if I need to, uninstall and reinstall, but I'm not sure what you mean by repairing EMC 8.

Thanks for all you help. I'm so relieved that there is a way, and that I didn't waste all that money for EMC.

"Repairing" means to do a "repair install". You can do that by going into Add/Remove Programs, and for Roxio EMC 8, click the "Change" button. That restarts the Install program, and on the second screen you have options for, "Modify", "Repair", and "Remove". Select "Repair" and it will attempt to fix any files that may have been overwritten by something else.

Hope that helps!
