Intense Image Flickering/jumping Half-way Through Dvd

I have a 50 second DVD video. I'm using myDVD 6.0 to author it. When viewing the source material on a television, it looks fine. When viewing authored DVD on a computer it looks fine. When viewing authored DVD on a television, it looks horrible.

On a tv, around the first 20 seconds playback beautifully, but after that the image starts doing random flickering/jumping every second or so. It's not like an incorrect field-order flicker. It's as if the image is jumping out by a few pixels for a single frame. It continues like this until the end of the video. The menu playsback correctly as well. Any thoughts?

Your media…

Cheap media is never worth the "savings". Never heard a complaint from anyone using Verbatim.

Likewise, some Players are sensitive to 'plus' or 'dash' media. Not the cheap Player, it seems to show up in the expensive Players… Actually have not heard of that too much in recent years.

Fast test would be try the disc on other players and see if the problem follows the disc.

I brought the source media onto a different computer that has Adobe Encore. The DVD that it created plays perfectly front to back on my DVD player. Never had any problems with the Encore station. Using the same blank DVD media on that station as I did with myDVD. Any other ideas why it would suddenly start flickering/jumping half way through the video?

Did you update your program? Which version of 6 do you have?

I'm using MyDVD v6.1.3. According to the update, there's no newer version (other than purchasing EMC 10 or such).

Have you seen this problem before? I'm pretty sure it's an encoding problem where anything after ~20 seconds has the flickering/jumping problem occuring. I've done a bunch of tests with a wide variety of source materials :-(

If it is consistently starting after about 20 minutes, it could be a heat problem with your PC.

The fact that it worked OK on another PC and repeats the problem on this PC even with different source material point directly at the PC!

Programs don't get tired and start making mistakes…
