Brendon
AVI files contain video which has been compressed with one of a large number of 'codecs' If you're talking about dealing with AVI movies with this software, the red 'X' means that your system doesn't have the required codec to decompress and play or convert the AVI. One of the easiest ways to check what codec or codecs your AVI files use, is a free utility called GSpot, available here (click link) and many other places. Use GSpot to see what codec(s) your AVIs use, and whether your system has them. If it doesn't, you will need to find; download; and install the required codecs.
