Dvd Drive Not Accessible

Question

HELP!

I tried the temporary version of Nero for my new DVD drive, and decided not to use the software. Then I tried to uninstall. Since then, my computer cannot recognize a blank DVD disk. I know that this is a common problem, but I have tried the common solutions:

- I uninstalled the drive and rebooted - no luck.

- I went to the famous {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} registry key and deleted the upper and lower filters. Since then there is no upper filter, but my pinnacle software keeps noticing changes to this key and puts back a lower filter.

- I've clicked on links for the roxio cleaner, but they are all dead links.

- I've sent an e-mail to roxio support, and no answer for almost a week.

The drive shows as a DVD-RAM drive when empty, and can play a music CD. But as soon as I put in a blank DVD drive, it changes names to a CD-ROM drive, and when I click on it I get an error message saying that the drive is not accessible. Interestingly, I was able to do a direct DVD streaming video record using pinnacle.

Again - PLEASE HELP!

Try flashing that drive with the latest firmware update. If you have done that previously, try it again. Also, what brand and type of media are you using? Try a different brand, and see what happens. If it still doesn't work, you may have a bad drive, even if it is new.

I'll have to look for the firmware. However, I know that the drive works fine. It is definitely a registry issue.

You uninstalled Nero, and now your drive does not recognize a blank disc, so you sent an e-mail to Roxio support. That doesn't make sense to me.

Try the PX engine fix, in the following link:

First, thanks for the link, but it didn't help. I tried again right now, and I got an "Incorrect Function - Drive not accessible" when I put in the blank DVD, and I apologize for picking the wrong board. I did send the e-mail to Nero support, and honestly thought that Roxio was the maker of Nero software. Oh well. Still anyone with any ideas, I am more then happy to hear them. It looks like I need Roxio instead of Nero.
