Cineplayer And Backup My Pc Missing

rbueck@gmail.com

Question

:) I have uninstalled and reinstalled EMC 8 to moved to a different hard drive in same machine. When I stuck the cd the first time, it said you have to uninstall cineplayer and backup my pc in order to install. so i click yes. went ahead and uninstalled EMC 8. restarted pc. installed EMC 8 (retail) restarted installed 8.05 update. restarted. Cineplayer and Backup MYPC are in the EMC 8 menu but the program is not on either hard drive. when I run the MSI file on the CD, i get the error "the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation". What's going on. How do I get Cineplayer and BUMP back onto my pc?

I had a similar problem. If you had older versions BUMP and Cineplayer, when it was uninstalled, not everything may have been deleted. Download the Windows Install Cleanup from here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/

Make sure all references to Cineplayer and BUMP (if any) are removed, and try a reinstall of EMC8. Unfortunately, they did not integrate these 2 into the install very well.

If there are no references to BUMP or Cineplayer in the cleanup utility, this will not help and I am not sure what the problem is. Mine showed a reference to a Cineplayer older version. Once I got rid of this, Cineplayer installed with no problem.
