Dvd-ram To Dvd-r

triskaideka

Question

Hi,

I have a Panssonic DVD-RAM tv recorder. It can also record and playback on DVD-R. I have some discs recorded that I would like to move to DVD-R because the discs are cheaper and DVD-RAM is a re-useable format.

Can I do this in Toast 8.03? I have an iMac 7.1 2.4Ghz with internal Optiarc DVD RW AD-5630A drive and an external FW Freecom DVD Recorder LS Pro. The Freecom unit can read and write to DVD-RAM, the Optiarc just read DVD-RAM.

Thanks,

Tris.

Yes. Choose DVD with the top button of the Toast Media Browser. Insert the DVD-RAM. In a few seconds the disc will appear in the browser window. Double-click on what appears in the browser and you'll see a list of all titles on the disc. Select the ones you want and add them to the Toast Video window with DVD-video selected as the format. When Toast is done extracting the MPEG files you can eject the disc.

Remember that by default Toast empties the Converted Items folder when quitting Toast. So either change that preference or be sure to finish your work on making the DVD or disc image before quitting Toast or the extracted MPEGs will be deleted.
