7800gt Vivo Doesnt Work With Video Capture Either

hi guys roxio capture does not work on my gainward 7800gt ultra powerpack ,yet in nero it works just fine.my problem is that when i select capture video from svhs or composite it just hangs on screen,sometimes there will just be ma blank black square screen where the video is supposed to be.on the box of easy cd creator 8 it says capture from any device,clearly this is not the case. :angry2:by the way my video card is vivo and i have the latest drivers from nvidia wdm. any help would be apreciated thanks

Update the drivers for your video card. It may or may not help but usually does. You might have to capture the video with the software that came with your capture card/device and then bring the file into V8 for editing and burning.

i have the very latest wdm 4.13 vivo drivers installed,and surely if capture work in nero 6 as well as nero 7 then the problem is with roxio capture,like i said before on the box it claims to capture from any device.i have used roxio from v6 and i also have 7.5 which was flawed with problems,when i purchased version 8 i thought maybe they ironed out all there bugs but it doesnt look likely from my experiences with this software,also the program can randomly just hang when launching some of its other applications,anyway thanks for your help but i dont really want to install yet another program just to get capture to work,hopefully roxio can sort out these issues,the software isnt exactly cheap to start with.

Prehaps it's a typo - 'many' ?

There is a hardware compatibility list under Customer Service of tested analog capture devices.

 

I checked out Gainward's website. I didn't find the 7800GT, but there was a 6800GT with two models:

AGP version states VIDEO OUT

PCI EXPRESS version states VIDEO IN

 

Most likely you will have to use the software that came with the card for capturing. You should be able to use any of the captured MPG files with Videowave or MyDVD.

I guess that Roxio marketing selected the term "any" (type of device) specifically to mean that not "ALL" devices will work.

cheers for your replys but i can assure you that my video cards are gainward powerpack 7800gt ultras running in sli mode.there is definately no typo in the model no,check out microdirect.com under video card section.anyway thanks guys switching to nero no troubles with that software and regular updates to boot.p.s my sytem specs should be more than enough but here goes:-an8 fatality nf4 sli mobo,amd64 4000+ processor,corsair xms expert 1 gig dual channel ddr400@2,2.2.5,2x7800gt in sli,1 plextor cdwriter,1 plextor dvd writer,antec trupower2 550 psu.2x 160gig maxtor diamond max 10 sata drives in raid 0 config,soundblaster x-fi extreme music soundcard,surely this is more than enough.anyway thanks once again.
