robmel1
Is there any way to move/copy photos from Video Wave 7 to Video Wave 8? I had created a project in Video Wave 7 and now have 8 and would like to do that. I guess there's no way to move the whole project from 7 to 8? Thanks, Robert
ggrussell
Depends on what transitions/effects you used in the V7 project. Some V7 project files will open just fine in V8. Some won't. You can always recreate the project in V8 from scratch using the same photos.

And I can no longer use great V7 transitions like barcode? If this is true, can this product honestly be called an upgrade? Or is it more of a sidegrade? Propably most EMC 7.5 project will work in EMC 8 as long as you still have EMC 7 installed. Because the project was created in EMC 7 when you open it in EMC 8, the program looks for links to files in EMC 7 folders.

I'm afraid that hasn't been the case. 7 just shuts down when I try to open its files in 8, and vice-versa. For EMC 8, the culprit seems to be 7's snazzy transitions and/or fancy .avi overlays. But that does not explain 7's problem with 8. Two potential issues: my version of 7 is basic (yet currently outperforms 8 deluxe) Like so many others, my 8 deluxe download arrived w/out the content file - an issue allegedly under investigation today. Your thoughts?

Your thoughts? What part of your Basic version 7 outperforms 8 Deluxe? Try Disc Copier, and see what happens. And see what happens when you try to add something to the Timeline in VideoWave in Basic 7, versus version 8. If you can do either of those things with your Version 7, you don't have the Basic version.

Well, it's not easy to evaluate 8 when I have to rebuild everything from scratch and find that Sonic failed to include a content download. But what I was asking for what thoughts on why it's not compatable with 7 and if that can be fixed.
ggrussell
7 just shuts down when I try to open its files in 8, and vice-versa. You're running Videowave 7 AND Videowave 8 at the sametime? Are you trying to open the same file in both applications at the same time? You should get a Windows sharing violation or 'file in use'. I've never tried running them at the sametime. Maybe I can test that out sometime tomorrow.
robmel1
I was able to open a production from Videowave 7.5 in 8.0 and, other than making some minor changes to transitions, it looks like it will work. I'll know better when I try to save it as a new production. Which brings me to a slightly different question. I bought my EMC 8.0 from Best Buy and the version is 3.0.0; build 3.0.91a. Is that the latest release version? Thanks, Robert
ggrussell
That's the version of the HOME app. Open Videowave or MyDVD and look at HELP/ABOUT. If you purchased it recently, it should be Version 8.
