Burning Movie (video_ts) Failed At Compressing 99% With Memorex Dvd+r Dl 8x

Mike@Toronto

Question

I have stored some movies (Video_TS) in my hard drive and have been able to burn movies to DVD+R DL using Creator 9 until I installed "Ad-Aware SE Plus". It failed with the above error. So, I uninstalled "Ad-Aware SE Plus", but problem persisted with burning to DVD+R DL. However, burning to DVD-R was okay.

I then uninstalled Creator 9, purchased EMC10, followed the clean install procedures to install EMC10. However, problem persisted with burning movie to DVD+R DL. Once you hit "click for more info" on the pop-up window (Compressing 99%), it gives you "Invalid parameter "[0x00000004] ULONG: Error Number = 00000004 String: Error String = Invalid parameter. Then when you hit close, it gives you Unspecified Error [0x4]

Details:

DELL Optiplex GX520

Pentium 4 3GHz

Onboard display adapter with Intel 82945G Express Chipset

Windows XP Professional

RAM 1GBx2

BENQ DVD DW1640 (firmware BSRB)

media: Memorex DVD+R DL 8X

steps to reach the error:

Open EMC10>choose Copy DVDs>choose source from my hard drive>Disc Size: DVD+R Double Layer> choose 4x speed to play safe.

To try a second, I connected an external DVD Writer, LG DVD-GSA-E60L REV_1.00, using the same media and probem persisted. I have wasted at least 5 DVD+R DL.

Any help or suggestions are much appreciated

Burn the disc at 2.4X, reason below!

I own several BenQ Drives. Below is a peek at your 1640 BSRB firmware. the Memorex DVD+R DL Media are probably 'RITEK D01-001 2.4x' bolded below with a firmware burn speed of 2.4X. Download #1 in my signature and place a Memorex Disc in the Drive and click the disc info tab, see what the disc media ID (MID) is, and what write speeds the CDDVDSpeed tool displays for the disc.

Your +R disc's your having trouble with what brand and speed are you burning them at and what is the media ID (MID) for that disc.

The MKM (MID) below are Verbatim DVD+R DL. I only use Verbatim DVD +R DL media.

Advice, buy Taiyo Yuden (Premium Line) Single layer media click here... Or Verbatim Single Layer and DL media, usually avaliable local at Best Buy and such. They are the top two out there!

The Clean Install is a specific procedure, and you did not do it!

Since you are not really willing to actually try anything, I do not see how we will be able to help you.

I am detailed oriented. I have followed the clean install process before I posted my problem, here is what I say when I posted it "...followed the clean install procedures to install EMC10..."

Thanks

I asked for the MID of the media, you didn't do that and ask more questions. Your media sounds like it's junk. The BenQ and the Lg fail to burn it, you ask is it a media problem? Do you think both burners died at the same time or could the Memorex disc's be the problem?

cd

Okay, after a couple of days of trial and errors and again wasterd a few blank DVD+R DL media, I concluded that Fujifilm DVD+R DL was a reliable media with my BENQ burner, yet my external LG GSA-E60L Rev 1.00 burner still failed to burn with Fujifilm 2.4X DVD+R DL, so the LG external burner is useless as it can't burn both Fujifilm nor Memorex, regardless of the speed of the media. Here are the MIDs of the two media:

Memorex 8X DVD+R DL

MID: Ritek S04 066(42h)

2.4X - 8X

Fujifilm 2.4X DVD+R DL

MID: Ritek D01 066(01h)

2.4X

Any suggestion with what media to use for the external LG burner?

Any suggestion with what media to use for the external LG burner?

That was covered in post #3!

I am not a big fan of external drives and avoid them...

Do you meet all the requirements, below? If so and your drive still does not work, I would contact LG.

The below is from your Drives Quick Set-up Guide, pdf file from the LG site, click here...

• Make sure you have a personal computer with

an open USB port before connecting the drive

to your computer.

• Power for all other devices should be turn off

before attaching the cables.

Connect the drive to the computer as shown in

figure.

A.Using an USB 2.0 cable only.

1. Connect the USB 2.0 cable to the

External Super Multi DVD Rewriter.

2. Connect the other end of the USB 2.0

cable to your computer.

B. Using USB 2.0 Cable and

USB Power cable. (DC-jack type)

1. Connect the USB 2.0 cable to the

External Super Multi DVD Rewriter.

2. Connect the other end of the USB 2.0

cable to your computer.

3. Connect the USB power cable (DC-jack

type) to the External Super Multi DVD

Rewriter.

4. Connect the other end of the USB power

cable to your computer.

• The Rewriter may get its power from the USB

power. All systems may not meet USB power

requirements and full performance may not be

achieved. In this case, connect to the included

USB power cable (DC-jack type.).

• Please do connect the USB cables by any

means other than specified above. Using the

wrong type of cable with this drive can cause

it to malfunction.

When the computer is ready, confirm that the

drive is detected. And then, insert the supplied

software CD into the External Super Multi DVD

Rewriter and install the software.

System meeting the following requirements is needed in order to use USB

2.0 operation with this drive.

• Computer that is equipped with a USB 2.0 – compliant USB connector or PCI

adapter card, and on which the USB 2.0 EHCI (Enhanced Host Controller

Interface) driver software 1) has been installed.

1) The USB 2.0 EHCI driver software is supplied with currently available PCI

adapter cards that conform to USB 2.0. Further, Microsoft has released the USB

2.0 EHCI driver software for Windows XP, therefore it is also possible to use this

driver software with Windows XP.

If you want to know in detail, please contact your USB 2.0 adapter dealer or

consult your PC manufacturer, or consult the Microsoft Corporation Web site.

Thanks for the advice.

First of all, to clalrify, I have already performed a clean install of EMC10 after removing Creator 9, so re-installation is not an option to resolve this problem.

Secondly, I tried buring at a speed of 2.4x with the same problem:

(Write Error - Medium error "[03/0C/00])

Sense key = 0x03

ASC = 0x0C

ASCQ = 0x00

ULONG : Error Number = 130C000A

Sring : Error String = Write error - Medium error

Is it a medium problem? If yes, how comes that my newer external burner LG GSA-E60L Rev 1.00 has the same problem buring with 4x speed because it is capable of burning up to 8x

Thanks
