Only Partial Burning Of Dvd

I am hoping that someone out there can help me. I recently purchased Roxio Easy Media Creator 8. I installed the software and also downloaded the software updates. I am having a hard time trying as I am trying to burn a secon d coppy of some DVDs. The DVDs are homemade DVDs that I have recorded using my Sylvania DVD Recorder. When I try to copy the DVD, only the first 15 minutes of the DVD copy over to the new DVD. I have tried this with quite a few DVDs with the same result. I have also tried to save images of the DVDs onto my harddrive and then burn a copy of them with the same result. Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Makes sure the disc created by the Sylvania DVD recorder are finalized before trying to copy. Some set top recorders use something 'like' sessions on a CD. The disc must be finalized before any other device can read all of them.

 

I have a Liteon recorder and it treats DVD+RW disc much different than DVD-RW. Make sure you follow the directions for your recorder.

Good point. I think that it would be helpful to include some additional information. All of the DVDs were finalized with the Sylvania DVD Recorder. The DVD Recorder is picky with which types of DVD it will use. I have been using Maxell DVD-RW Video 4.7GB discs. As far as copying with Roxio, I have been trying it with both Maxell DVD-RW Video 4.7GB discs and Imation DVD-R Video 4.7GB discs. No luck with either.

One other piece of information I just remembered, when I try to use the "Copy DVD Movies" function under Most Frequent Tasks on the Home Screen, I get the following message after starting the copy:

 

"Insert Disc:

 

Please insert a disc in this drive with at least this amount of free space : 2,298,496 blocks (510:46:46 MSF / 4.4GB).

(Possible disc types are: DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+R Double Layer, DVD+RW, DVD-R Dual Layer)"

 

 

When I try to use the "Copy Disc" function or "Save Image" function under the Most Frequent Tasks on the Home Screen, that is when I end up with only the first 15 minutes of the movie.

 

When I go to My Computer and click on Properties on the DVD Drive, it says that there is 4.7GB free with 0 GB used.
