Problems When Adding To Streamer (and A Work-around)

Phil3

Question

Installed Toast 9 today and couldn't get Streamer to work right.

I loaded a couple videos, but only one would work.

I deleted the one that didn't work and added it again.

Now the new one works, but the first one (that was working) no longer works.

Seems when a video is added, the files inside .../Streamer Videos/thumbs are deleted

then replaced with the thumbs for the video being added.

To get around this, I made a copy of the contents of the thumbs folder before adding a new video.

When the new video is added, I copied the backed-up jpegs back to the thumbs folder.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Yes! You are not going crazy! I have a ticket opened with support on this very issue, as well as the fact that when you quit Streamer and start it up again, it will delete all the previous thumbnails.

Whoever did QA on this module needs 12 lashes with a wet noodle!

Cheers,

Rob

What version are you all running? On what OS and what machines?

Hi Scott,

I'm running Streamer 1.01 under Mac OS X v10.5.2 using a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5.

As Rob (RAlfieri) stated... It also happens when you quit and relaunch Streamer. (Thanks Rob!)

I found the same happens when you change the password.

It's during these events that Streamer appears to drop and recreate the 'images' folder and it's contents,

the movielist.xml file and the files (not folders) within the 'thumb' folder.

(I have a folder there where I keep backups of thumbs.)

When I'm in the thumbs folder and relaunch Streamer, I see the thumbs for my two movies go away,

then the thumbs for one video (first one alphabetically) are created and removed again.

Phil,

Toast 9.03 has a streamer 1.03 that, I believe, has fixed the thumbnail issue. Update and give it a try.

Hi Scott,

9.02 is the most current version I can find.

"Check for Updates" under the help menu says I'm current.

I updated yesterday to 9.02 using:

http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/toast/software_updates.html

Do you have another URL for me?

Maybe 9.03 is still in beta? (I'm okay with a beta release)

I'm running on the same platform as Phil. Thanks for the additional scenarios, Phil! I too am up to date. Sounds like they have a fix and we should get it soon. Once it's working properly, it's going to be very cool!

Cheers,

Rob
