Distorted Audio In Videowave And Dvd Preview

timlister

Question

I just finished downloading my wedding video from 1982. I used EMC 8 capture in the 'General Purpose editing, best quality' mode. When I view this clip outside of EMC8 using Windows Media Player 10 the audio sounds great with no distortion. When I preview it in Videowave and/or MYDVD within EMC8 the audio is distorted. I can not find any normalize or equalizing function.

Is there a way to correct this or do I need to re-download the clip and set the capture volume low?

BTW, the volume slider bar in the capture mode was set to about 1/4 volume during capture. I never changed it until I tested a download with a lower volume and it did not seem to distort.

The problem is that I have downloaded 2 VHS home movie tapes with over 100 clips (took me 2 weeks). I would hate to have to do this over again.

Especially since the sound is fine in WMP 10.

Can someone rescue me here?

Thanks,

Tim

There is (was) a known issue with nForce audio chipset. Updating the drivers will fix the issue if you have that audio chipset. It not, then changing the DirectX acceleration a notch down sometimes helps.

Go to Control Panel

Click on Sounds and Audio

Click on the AUDIO TAB

for default device, click on the Advanced Button.

In this box, click the PERFORMANCE TAB

Move the Hardware Acceleration slider one notch to the left.

See if that helps.
