Help Files No Help

I have been trying to perform several functions in DVD which don't work as the help file suggests. Or the info is so poorly written that I don't know what they mean. ie. I am trying to change the default button so that a different video is the first to play. The directions say:

 

In the project view area (Menus tab), click the menu’s icon. The menu appears in the Preview area.

Choose View > Settings to open the Settings dialog box.

On the Main tab, choose the desired button from the Default button list.

 

I think I am in the project view area "menus tab". I don't know what they mean by click on the menu's icon, but I click on the thumbnail, which is all that is there to click on. I also tried clicking on the main menu item in the menus tab list. Then it says to choose view>settings. Well, settings and almost all the other selections are greyed out and can't be selected, regardless of what I clicked on first. In fact, I find that most of the menu items on all the menus are greyed out. Then, what is Main tab? And where is the default button list.

 

I also can find no way to rearrange the files (movies) I have included in my project. HELP! Why is this program so hard to work with?

Have you downloaded the manuel that is listed at the top portion of the General discussion section?

In addition to what Patty suggested, if you have the essentials or standard version of EMC8, the items you have indicated in your post as being greyed out are normal. Only the deluxe version has those features activated.

 

Since this is the third post from you that I have seen asking similar questions, I suspect you have a version something less than the deluxe, i.e., the standard or essential version. If that is the case, some of the features will not be activated and that is normal.

I have the Suite Edition. I thought it had all the features except those associated with the Hardware included with the Deluxe version. Am I wrong?
