Popcorn Won't Encode Tivo Program

Question

Hi I've been having a problem with one of my files downloaded from my TIVO.

I've downloaded it with TIVO-to-go in my Popcorn 3 but I cannot get it do anything else with the file.

I've tried to convert to ipod format (what I really want to do with it) but the encoding window opens and it stays at 0%

Now, I'm trying to burn it to a DVD but I'm getting the same encoding 0%

I don't know what is causing this!

PS:

The show is from Nov and its been on my TIVO since then because I could never download it with my Toast 8 after the whole problem with the update. :angry2:

There probably is something wrong with some frames at the start of that MPEG file. I suggest opening the transferred TiVo video in MPEG Streamclip. Use Streamclip to trim off the first second or so (be sure to use Go to Keyframe when selecting the out point at which you make the cut). Then choose Convert to MPEG to save the file for use in Popcorn. There is no re-encoding that happens with this process.

I downloaded MPEG Streamclip but it won't open Tivo recordings

Go to tdm.sourceforge.net and download TiVoDecode Manager.

Thanks for the help :)

The TivoDecode Manager worked to download but the video and audio are now out of sync... grrr!

Check the TiVoToGo for Mac forum Here.

Also, audio sync issues during encoding can sometimes be fixed by go to the Custom settings and choosing 24 fps as the frame rate.

I don't have a TiVo so I haven't been able to do any experimenting with those files. Hopefully you'll find some useful info in the other forum.
