calmose@gmail.com
I was receiving the same error but have finally solved the problem by upgrading my XP Pro to SP2. I uninstalled EMC8, upgraded to SP2, reinstalled EMC8 and no longer receive the error. I can open the main media creator "home" application. Let me know if this helps. I did a few other steps along the way but I don't believe they were accomplices.
ferraguti@cox.net
I'm running into the same issue. I have XP Pro with SP2. I was able to register the product through the desktop icon but from then on I get a blank message box then another message box identifying the 80004005 Invalid Pointer error. I have not been able to find anything on Roxio's support website. I have found two forum entries about SP 2 not being installed. So I reinstalled SP 2 and did a reinstall to Roxio with the same results. Oddly enough, all of the other programs work. I just can't get into the Home (Roxio_Central.exe).
