Toast 9 Won't Write Lead Out On External Dvd

Since upgrading from Toast 8 to Toast 9 I can not finalize a DVD to my external HP 840e. It will write just fine, goes to 100% and then just stops. No errors. It just quits. After force quitting Toast 9 and and restarting the DVD burner the disc will read just fine and appears to be okay. I tried burning Data DVD's using Toast 8 after this happened and Toast 8 works just fine with the same writer/player/discs (just as it always has), but I have gotten the same results every time I have tried to burn a Data DVD with 9 to my external burner. I have not tried a regular CD or Video DVD as I am not that keen on making silver coasters. I know that Toast 8 works... but no luck with my external DVD Player so far using 9.

 

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

So you have the HP as well as the internal drive? It could be a problem with Toast, but the recorder could also be doing something funky that Toast 8 just misses and Toast 9 seems to have a problem with. Can you test 9 with the internal recorder? Are there any firmware updates available for the external unit?

Just tried with the internal combo drive and it works fine (but it is slower than the external}, even burned a dvd using the external and it too worked fine, but still no luck when using Toast 9 to burn a Data DVD using the external USB2 HP 840e. I checked, and there are no firmware updates available for the 840e HP Writer.

 

If all else fails (and it has so far) at least now I know I can use the internal combo drive to burn Data DVD's with Toast 9. Though it would be nice to use the external faster drive... it's not a requirement. What is a few minutes in the big picture after all...
