File Size Vs. Time Capacity Issues

Since I hardly burned DVD's, until the magical program Toast 9 came along (major sarcasm used), mine are rather antiquated, I suppose. They are single-layer, 16x 4.7GB 2HR DVD-R's. The 2 hour capacity would imply that I can put 2 1-hour shows recorded from my TiVo on one DVD-R for viewing in standard DVD players. However, the vision of disc burning perfection, Toast (even more sarcasm), tells me that it exceeds the capacity of the DVD. I understand that the DVD menu and other data fills up some of the available space on a DVD, but can anyone tell me what the actual time capacity of this type of DVD is?? Is there an option in Toast 9 that I can select to fit the clips to the disc or anything similar? Unfortunately, I've had to buy Roxio products for my PC and now for my Mac in order to take advantage of the TiVoToGo function as they have the monopoly on .tivo files.
