Cutting Out A Photo. Need Your Help!

melissa@rothtardan.com

Question

Dear Forum Folks,

I am cutting out photos to use on web pages. I want to cut them out in the shape of the cut out -- round, 5-sided, oval, etc. That's all I want of the photo. No retangular white canvas behind it. For the life of me, the help doesn't make sense or tell me if I can do this or not. Mask leaves the white canvas behind it.

I know it is possible in some programs and I feel silly not being able to figure this one out.

Thanks in advance,

Melissa in SoTX

I believe if you save it as an .png the backround will be transparent. How are you using this cutout? Are you using it as an overlay or are you wanting to print it? Here is what someone else posted in the general category. The below is an answer regarding using it as an overlay. If this doesn't answer your question please explain what you are going to use the cut out for.

Yes, you can do that, but it takes a little work. You will need to use Photosuite 8 or other photo editor. Create the cutout and save the image in PNG that has a transparent background. Then use that PNG in the overlay.
