Emc10 Default File/folder Locations

Evening all,

 

I have just re-installed EMC10 on my laptop. Is there an ini file or something which contains all the default file/folder locations for things like temp files, actual dvd files, etc? Do I have to go app by app and check? Anyone have some hints as to where to locate things to improve performance?

Hello Steve,

 

This is a difficult one due to the fact that EMC 10 is a mish-mash of Sonic and [disappearing] Roxio applications.

 

Roxio Creator Classic, being an orderly application, has its temp file location available and adjustable. Run Classic and go to Tools > Options >Temp Files, and all will be revealed.

 

The Sonic applications, being more chaotic, neither tell you where these things go nor let you change them. Who knows what havoc you could wreak if we were to tell you? I did once find Sonic temp files in C:\users\yourname\Appdata\local\temp [where 'yourname' is your login name on your computer] and they took the form of PXW*.tmp files, so that location may be worth peering at.

Hi Brendon,

 

Thanks for the tips. I hope Sonic/Roxio is taking this into account when putting together the next revision. It should be easy to tell, and then to configure. Only time will tell.

 

I will check the apps as I go. I already found some stuff in MyDVD and Video Copy and Convert.
