Playing With Mydvd Menus -

creeker69

Question

First everyone applaud ggrussell for his continued contribution to this forum and his latest DVD menu design which can be seen here http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=3746 .

So after reading the postings and getting a better understanding (thanks to ggrussell and some others) I decided I would experiment and make a DVD with at least three productions (slideshows made thru videowave) and add some chapters to each.

After doing so, I have two questions.

First is there a way to take my previous productions, menus and all and burn them to one DVD complete with those menus? Seems a waste of time to have to change the backgrounds, menu audio, and chapters all over again.

Second is a result of the not knowing of a way to place the productions on one DVD. When changing the menu aduio I seem to have reached its limit. I have three productions on this DVD (which I am just experimenting with and dont need to have) and i added chapters to each. So that is one Main Menu and Three Chapter menus for a total of 4 menus. I wanted different aduio on each. When adding audio to the fourth, it only plays a couple of seconds (8-10) of the audio and loops. The other menus seem fine.

Is there in fact a limit of any sort (within reason) to the length of the audio on the menus? Either on an individual menu or menus in total?

thanks,

ron

Thanks for such high praise, but I just put together a few ideas from other users. I try to pass along any helpful info I find regardless from where I find it. Sometimes from the competition forums. LOL

That sounds a bit tricky. Sounds like you have several DVDs that aren't full and you want to combine them onto one? Or do you just want to open a previous DVD Builder project and reburn it?

If I remember correctly, the default time limit for menus is 30 seconds each. This time limit may be set different lengths for different menu styles, too.

For more control, EMC 8 Deluxe Suite will allow the user to manually change each menu up to 150 seconds. You can even 'edit menu' just like a video file with a Timeline, overlay, audio track, etc.

Thanks. Indeed I have about 4 or 5 productions that I originally wanted to send to a relative out of town and just place 5 of them on a single DVD.

Each INDIVIDUAL production had specialized menus (background changes, audio changes, etc.) that I was very happy with. One even has the trick you use for "PLAY ALL" / "SELECT SCENES".

I wanted to be able to just take all the productions and place them on a single DVD (small enough each so room would not be a problem). The reason is so I do not have to search for new Audio and new Backgrounds on each production the way I did when I made them originally. And, of course selecting thumbnails for chapters and redifining chapters, etc.

As for the Audio, it must be by size not length. I have a few WAV songs that only play about 15 seconds before looping and a few other (either MP3 or WMA not sure right now) that play much much longer. The difference in the audio songs is the overall size (mb).

After reading several of your postings and others, I think I need to buy the Deluxe. Is that what you are using?

thanks,

ron

Yes, I now have the Deluxe version. The user has much more control with menus in the Deluxe version.

I think you would have to open one project thatyou have already created. Then add the other videos to that one. You would have toonly recreated chapter marks for those videos.
