Cannot Hear Any Sound From Any Applications...

gahideg

Question

Since installing Easy Media Creator 10 on an XP system, I cannot hear ANY sound from ANY application now. Nothing from Windows startup or shutdown, nothing from Itunes...or any other App.

Anybody have any assistance for me? And what is with there being no tech support directly? They are happy to provide "customer" support for non-tech issues, but I cannot find anything for tech issues besides the forum.

Help would be appreciated!

What happens when you go to Window's Sound and Audio Device Properties and click the triangle for a test sound? Do you hear anything then? Do you use external speakers?

OK, same S&A Devices dialog box, "hardware" tab, does it indicate that all of your devices are working properly? And I assumed you re-booted after you discovered the problem?

Yep, all devices say they are working properly and I re-booted (twice now).

Even tried the troubleshooting assistant. The only thing I have not done is roll-back any drivers (I hate it when it gets to this stage)!

I'm not familiar w/ this bug w/ EMC 10. Have you tried for non-roxio based solutions, such as this link to see if it can be cleared up? Another trick that might help might be to unplug your speakers, turn off your pc, plug the speakers back in in to see if it recognizes "new hardware;" that might clear it up, or, if you are ambitious, trying the same w/ your sound card.

Did the troubleshooting include making sure your sound wasn't muted?

I seem to have the same problem. Except that the only application with sound output is "Sound Editor."

Can't get any sound from any other application. I go back to "Sound Editor" and i can hear audio.

Can't get updates because the dialogs take me around in a circle.
