Saving Projects In Cd Extra

Aqua-Tarkus

Question

How do I save the project in CD Extra? There is no File\Save command as in all other software. How could they leave this out? This is not a trial version. File save should be there.

I am working on a 2 disc project and need to switch between discs as I figure out which files go where. I will also need to burn other copies later and do not want to waste space on disc images.

Thanks

Using version 9.0.088 of EMC

Are you trying to create a CD with audio as well as data? You cannot create such a disc with a File Save/Save in EMC (or in any other software to my knowledge). Perhaps if you do a search in the EMC 9 forums on "DC Extra" or "Enhanced CD" you might find a few posts regarding this almost obsolete "format"

Perhaps if you were to explain a bit more exactly what you are trying to accomplish someone might have some suggestions.

BTW, if you want to make multiple copies, first creating a disc image is the best way to go.

Enhanced CD worked fine in EMC 7.5. It has save project and everything. Even works from within Creator Classic. I just need to save the project so that I can make changes. Disk images can not be edited. I did the searches you recommend before I posted the question and did not find the answer. My first attempts were too big to fit on 2 CDs. I had to go back and make changes. Another reason to need File Save is that I like to listen to the track to track transitions on the real stereo. Many times I need to tweak the volume between a track or two. Can't do that with an disc image either.

Another problem I am having with Creator Classic is that it does not make audio CDs any more. I much prefer the classic interface. I have been using it for a couple of versions of the software.

It is looking like I need to do all of my work in 7.5 on my desktop with the flaky burner and burn the image on my laptop with the burner that seems to work OK.

And yes I am making audio CDs that also contain data. I want them to play on any CD player, not just a computer so a DVD is out.

I almost did not upgrade EMC for the laptop. It is beginning to look like I should have looked elsewhere or just kept on with 7.5.

I assume you are creating these in Creator Classic???

Just click File – Save or File – Save As…

This creates an rcl file which is a 'snapshot' of what you want to do. Since it is only "notes" everything used to make that project, must remain.

This is the same way it has worked in all versions up to and including V9.

That is my point, File Save was there in Creator Classic in EMC 7.5 and you could create enhanced CDs while in CC.

In EMC 9 you must use CD Extra where File Save is not available and CDE operates in a different window than CC. Doing a save from CC does not save the information in CDE.

I was hoping I was missing something.

Thanks for looking

Doh!!! The bell just went off, you are correct about V9. It was like a wizard under Creator Classic and there was not a Save ability in it!

As myguggi mentioned it is a dying format and life support was disconnected in V9. It is not even to be found in V10.

Still with a little bit of thought, create a project folder for each CD and put the files needed in that folder.

Use some RW media to 'get it right' then point the wizard to that folder and add your files…

But keep in mind you are pursuing a dying format. It may have suited your needs but sometime down the road you will find that Players will not support it and you are going to be stuck with unusable discs.

Describe your needs in detail and we may be able to suggest a method that is more in the current state of art.

I use Enhanced CD extensively in training projects, where the ability to call up computer files and player audio on a CD Player is extremely useful.

Made a number of them in v6, upgraded to EMC 9; very disappointed in the loss of the capability.

Information on a more state of the art, or at least comparable approach, would be appreciated.
